Welcome to the Dees JB.

Really hope u go well and stick it up the  saints.

Go Dees.

What, Gus's uncle has joined the Dees?

I hope that if he’s fit and ready to go, we give him an extended run and don’t bring him in and out. Same height (close enough to) as Melksham, hopefully he can find a bit of grunt and could potentially be a replacement. Or not. Just spitballing here.

That's much more preferable to those who are already slagging him off.

Doesn't really have an aerial game like Melk

Hes competing with guys like Spargo and Chandler I reckon. Best case scenario he can be a similar link man to Charlie but finding the pill 20 times a game compared to Spargo's 12

Astute pick up! Cheap as chips, will surprise a few around here!

Different roles I would think, but you’re right about being given the chance. He has a chance to unseat the following in my mind; Hunter on a wing, or Chandler’s role as that ‘speed forward’ that gets up the ground and releases forward quickly when we turn it over.

Ok but expect to be unfairly maligned before you even pull on a guernsey. I mean, that’s how you roll, right?

at my ancient age - yeah

I for one hope you are correct.
All of Hunter,  Chandler started out like they were on fire and we’re going to become hero’s , sadly the heat disappeared a bit and they became a bit ordinary.   IMO .    Also Langers seemed to be just not the same as well.

hope they can all fire each other up.

Plays nothing like Jake M. Really couldn’t be more different.
More like Laurie/Hunter perhaps with half forward/ forward pocket role preferred.

Really is probably different to all our skilled smalls which will be good.

I think he'll get a chance in the midfield to give us a different type, with his outside class and ball use that we haven't had for a while

Did he play inside midfield for St Kilda?

Predominantly as a forward with a season or two on a wing

Nice bloke jack Mueller...used to say "how good would I have been with 5 fingers". ( Only had 3 on one hand.

I believe kicked 8,6 and 6 goals in the PF,GF and GF replay in 48?

Gees why didn't someone tell me. I could have sat up in the high chair and watched the replay.

Burning dwarves?  Or was that before his time?

I was reliably told that I listened with great interest the drawn GF and the replay between sleeps in my bassinet.

He has been a mainstay of the red, white and black for almost a decade, his most recent campaign was frustratingly bookended by stints on the sidelines through injury.

The left-footer has since come out the other side of off-season back surgery, steadily building his body back up and recapturing his form from 2019, which saw him just shy of a podium finish at that year's - Saints Trevor Barker Award.

Able to hold down a role coming off half-forward or help drive his side’s outside run, Billings’ adaptability will likely come in handy and I see him as a better class than the likes of Chandler, ( sad to say). As for Hunter, he MUST stay. I like him and frankly, I feel he had a better year than Langdon.

I think most Melbourne supporters acknowledge Spargo would be so much more useful if he could find the ball 15-20 times, rather than 10. He has the skills we need.

If Billings can do that plus generate a few shots himself, it’s a huge win. Helps that he’s a 6’1”-6’2” height too

You now have we worried for the welfare of Nick Watson in the event we draft him

Definitely before his time.

His best 'time' for our purposes would be 2017, when he managed both a goal and a goal-assist per game.

Interestingly, he had one eye on the door at St Kilda for quite some years, while his first six seasons (under Alan Richardson, no less) produced quite good football even if he was a whipping boy on account of being sandwiched between Jake Kelly and Marcus Bontempelli in the draft.

If he produced just his career 'norm', he'll be a valuable asset getting the ball forward effectively.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
