Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Understand,,,, but the issue is are clubs selling expensive GF guarantee memberships that only entitle a holder to standing room.

Is it just Collingwood or are other clubs doing it?

MFC have never had a GF where the guarantee applies for example

Exactly, and as someone who hopes to use his Grand Final Guarantee in the next year or 2, it's a big concern. I would hope that MFC have sold no more than the seats they would be allocated, not including standing room

Wait - this is important as our club does this too. Is this a case of GFG holder not getting a guaranteed ticket? That goes against the very product Does it not? I have had one since 2020 and although I was able to get a ticket in my basket in 21, didn’t buy it as I’m in NSW (just wanted to say I had a ticket , for 5 mins😂) I’d want to be sure of getting one

Edit: saw post on previous page. Standing room for 1k wtaf?

you either get a GFg or not - misleading if not and then ACCC might be interested if not

I've had a GFG ticket since 2018 (optermisic I know, but it nearly came off that year).  2021 I bought a second for my son and I.  Thinking about it now, I'm a little disappointed the club didn't do something more to acknowledge and compensate those that bought GFG memberships in 2021, but I guess you could put the whole MFC membership in that camp and they did put on the day at the G I guess (that I didn't go to, due to being interstate and it being a little hollow).

The Ticketek finals ticking system is a farce.  The AFL are part of this issue as well.

Any grand finals guarantee tickets should be effectively quarantined from the general pool until very late in the week.  If there were a few thousand left unclaimed a few days out before the day, I'm sure they would find a good way to sell them (probably at a huge premium).

You also shouldn't need to sit in a phantom online que duing business hours to get access to tickets.  From what I've read, Ticketek themselves have confirmed what a farce this is with people basically pulled out of the que at random, rather than based on when they entered the que.  The current Ticketek system just adds stress and frustration to a time that should be enjoyable and exciting for AFL fans.

In 2023, you should be able to pre-enter all your membership details, seating/price point preferences and credit card details into the system in the days or even weeks before to register an application for tickets and then be sent those tickets to your account a day or so after both teams have qualified.

Obviously for non garrenteed tickets there would need to be a lottery element to that, but at least that would be better than sitting around in the random que and wasting time for the eventual frustration of not being assigned a ticket or the ticket you wanted anyway.  What's more if the clubs and the ticketing allocator actually cared enough, it should be possible to take some of the randomization out the allocations and allow those who applied, but missed out on tickets for previous games first option of being allocated tickets for the next one etc.

Do you think it's mean to go on twitter and gloat to these Collingwood fans that as a Melbourne supporter I scored a seat in the mcc gf ballot. And I will happily enjoy it

Why would you let meanness get in the way?

I'm in the same boat and while it's not a great ticket, and I am only half-hearted about it, I am going to go so that's one less Collingwood voice there.

This is a question to be put to the board at the next AGM.

I have been a Redlegs/Platinum/ Legends (name changes every year) for 30 years. I’m not ware whether the MFC allocate three categories of GFG membership but I guess they do.

As far as I’m aware each club can only allocate a fixed number of GFG memberships and it’s probably the same number for each club. I know for the Cats it’s 6k. Probably the same for us.

In 2000 Legends members got access to tickets the day prior to ‘ordinary’ members.

This year when I logged in with my barcode I only had access to Cat 1, 2 and 3 tickets for each of our two finals.
I assume that ‘ordinary’ members only had access to Cat 4-7 for the first 60 or so minutes to give Legends a chance.

Happy to be corrected on this.

The ‘joke’ was that I only wanted standing room for both finals and had to  go out and re-enter as an ‘ordinary member in order to access Cat 7.

What a shambles. Collingwood now blaming Ticketek for giving out any standing room tickets to GFG members.

The Pies called for the AFL to increase competing club allocation from 17,000 to 20,000 and on Ticketek to “improve their system” in a statement released on Monday, in which they also said that any priority one member that was given a standing room ticket in the ballot would be upgraded to a seated ticket.

I'd be blaming Ticketek too. Their systems are a joke.

When I logged on for the Carlton game and finally got through, it kept rejecting my request for category 2 or 3 seating, on the basis of insufficient tickets, despite saying they had tickets available in those sections.  Session ended up timing out and in the end I was lucky to end up with a category 4 seats behind the goals on the 4th level after waiting in the que a second time.  I was only after 3 seats.

If you pay for a grand final day guarantee, you'd expect more than standing room.

It's time Gil and the AFL got up Ticketek.  They've got a monopoly to print money and it's time they provided a service that actually works properly.

Unless the scum at Collingwood get the "Collywobbles" then I don't see them losing.

The Brisbane Lions just can't win on the MCG.

Happy to be proven wrong though!

i,m not so sure.

their record for end of season is not so hot since round 19

it is 5 wins 3 losses

the wins were by 1, 2, 7, 8, 70 points (the 70 was vs essendrug)

so, they are not necessarily flying

plus, 28c for grand final day should suits the bears

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
