Amazing i'm still fuming about this when we have a final to play tonight.

I'm so sick post tribunal decision of posters, general public and media talking about a "loophole" and the need for a rule change at the end of the season.

The rule and opportunity to suspend is there. Rough Play is either intentional or reckless. There is no definition of "footballing act" that somehow absolves you of any responsibility for your actions.

The AFL is p!ss weak and no rule change will fix that.

Not so amazing Wrecker. The decision to clear Maynard after that contrived hit has left me with a sour taste in my mouth.

We all love the game, but dog acts like that just disgust me along with the celebrations by McChin and co only add to it.

Play hard, play tough, but hit men with mission to do that, ie, take someone out at opportunity, was back in the Mathews days..I would have liked to have  thought our game and attitude especially with the now known concussion issues would have moved on. There is no room or need for thugs in our game. Where are we, back in ancient Rome?

I couldn't think of one current Melb player who would enter a game with an attitude like that. I hope that all supporters of teams that play Collingwood give Maynard the biggest boo's whenever he goes near the ball.

I totally understand the venting. More off the cuff rubbish from the MRO. Does anyone have any idea how they come up with their decisions? I can't make sense of it at all.

That said, the team need us tonight so even if we're still upset about this decision and not feeling much love for the game, we gotta get along to the G and cheer the boys to the rafters. They need us tonight in full voice.

EJ was a complete thug, and wouldn’t last a season if the current MRO and tribunal system were in place when he played.  Like Matthews, Dyer and even Ditteritch.

There is no denying that EJ played it tough but he was no thug and, when needed, could play the game as well as anyone. I was once fortunate, in a state game at the MCG, to see him play probably the best game I have ever seen by any player in my time (except for the incomparable Robbie). He was that good.

Like most true champions, he would have been able to adapt to today's rules and still be able to dominate.

He personally delivered a budgie I had won in a contest - you had to guess what time the 6.30 Pm TAA flight would actually land - I rang the airport a week before and asked them and they said 6.30, that's what I wrote and won - and the budgie did nothing but poo in its cage until I mercifully let it escape when I turned to cage upside down and the gate slid down as I tried to de-poo it - and I spent most of my youth arguing with Brian Enever about who was Mister Football. He said Ted Whitten. I said Ron Barassi.

I never forgave EJ for delivering that budgie...

The Media engineered the exposure of the HIT to make sure that the  dumbing down of public opinion was soundly asleep for most of the time.

There are several ways the AFL could be dragged into fixing their mess.

Conversely MFC could fix it for them. Bear in mind, The AFL cannot do without US.

Listen to this concussion specialist, Dr. Ross Tucker, talk about the Maynard incident, at about 62 minutes in. There is a lot of talk about head injuries, mostly in Rugby Union, starting at 39 minutes in. He says that in Union, there is a duty of care for the other player (I know this has been talked about in the AFL but doesn't apply to Magpie players): https://podtail.com/en/podcast/the-science-of-sport-podcast/rugby-world-cup-23-the-amazing-tech-used-to-look-a/

In my opinion really disappointing and I'll timed article in the Hun today about good guy Maynard, all the usual platitudes. It's as though all the victims of concussion are just a nuisance, unimportant when compared to the thug who it seems has to be lauded because he's perceived as a good guy.

It’s so weird that in that footage of him having a kick with kids in the park he doesn’t once jump past the ball and ram his shoulder into the head of one of the children rendering him unconscious for 2 minutes.

Absolute dog act, sanctioned by the AFL.

Brayden "the Thug" Maynard should be booed for the rest of his football career by Melbourne supporters.

His vile dog act will NEVER be forgiven or forgotten!!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬

I'm going to the GF for 2 reasons only

1) to boo Maynard

2) to take a seat that otherwise could have gone to a pies supporter that was chanting Collingwood when Brayshaw was unconcious

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
