Max just switching into overdrive for me.

Yeah he was immense!

let’s say Gawn going into overdrive and Smith onto Dusty was the turning point 😂

Sparrow, Clarrie and Fritta make that team better on paper, pig too. Going to have some selection headaches soon.

Easy one :

Sparrow for Harmes

Clarrie for JJ

Fritta for Wowoedin

Licking my lips. 😋

I think we need to seriously consider resting a few for next week.

We can get Hibbo, Sparrow, Smith and Grundy to cover a few players.

Harmes, Jordon and Woewodin should be in the gun regardless of the result.

Nice to see new PBs for Petty and JvR kicking a career high 6 goals and 4 respectively.

Gawn huge in the last half.

He is, but we are also a tall forward short.

See how many intercept marks Richmond got today in our forward line.

Keep Tomlinson back, drop Harmes/Woewodin/Jordon and move Smith forward.

His name is Robert Paulson.

Sorry, that's a glitch.

His name is Brody Grundy

Good win, they came hard and like the crows did with us last week we just never let them get away when things weren’t going our way.

We are an experienced side and stood up when we needed to. Some very important players hitting form at the right time.

Clarry, Fritsch and Sparrow all to come in. Forward line mix today with Fritsch added is probably the one we go with

Watch the” Petty can’t play forward” posters jump on the bandwagon now.

It's not about whether or not he can play forward, it's about what it does to the backline when he does. Thank god Lynch (and Nankervis) were out.

Swings and roundabouts.

A highly entertaining game.

I was worried at times!

Glad the Demons got the job done.

A great win!

GO YOU MIGHTY DEMONS!!! 🔴🔵👹

We didn’t just get the job done.  They were desperate, and we ‘broke’ them!

Fantastic last quarter but until then our midfield and defence lacked pace and co-ordination. Outstanding displays by Max the Magnificent and the much-maligned Petty (six shots, six goals). Melksham's skills with both feet proved invaluable with two crucial goals from acute angles.

We now need to win only two more games to clinch a top-four spot. Win all four and second place is possible. Altogether a superb round of results for us, and we still have Oliver and Fritsch to come back. I reckon Joel Smith's pace and ability to read the play earned him a chance to start ahead of Tomlinson next week.

And to put some icing on the weekend cake,  Freo's upset win failed to lift them on the ladder.

We will fit Oliver back in, but not sure Fritz will be a shoe in,

Fritter for ANB.

Not like for like, but good for average

I can put my hand up as being in that camp, but to be fair no one saw this coming. Nothing he’d done playing fwd this year gave any indication he had a game like that in him.

Can't agree with that. He looked like he was going to rip the game apart before he was injured the last time he played fwd.

I saw it coming, and there's more to come

Was tommo subbed off injured or tactical? Missed it at the ground...

Tactical I believe. He didn't look that happy after the game. It was as if he saw his chance of playing finals slipping through his fingers. I feel sorry for him.

They threw everything at us, but we stood tall and found our best forward line combination for the year with Petts, Roo, and Melky!

The best part about Petty's game was that it was actually against a pretty good defence

Agree to disagree, didn’t read any comment in the pre game thread that had Petty kicking a bag. I’m glad that he did. I just find it childish when people want to carry on with their “to those who doubted…..”, footy’s an emotional game. I was wrong and I’m happy I was.

Thanks to Richmond and the MFC for a seriously entertaining match. Was introducing the sport to my Albanian hosts and not embarrassed at all. They loved it. Plus Yze! We have at least six new fans - but I think I can convert the whole village.

We’re all talking top 2 now dude, top 4 is so last week

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
