I’d much rather Smith on a wing than Hunter but that ship has sailed.

Not sure Langdon is doing a great deal at the moment either

I think if Smith leaves Dogs, you’ll find he wants to play midfield not wing

Just saying...

Two of those guys are playing on the inside, while one guy is swanning around like Fabio on a wing by himself.

Completely bad faith comparison...

The better comparison would be pur wingers, Langdon (73% DE) and Hunter (66.7% DE). The AFL ap says Smith's DE in 2023 is 66.4%, so not sure where you got yours from, but we signed Hunter for cheap and he's playing a solid role.

Have no idea why we'd want another winger.

If he came for free, sure, but he won't.

Put a price on his head trade wise and maybe we can have a discussion. Would still rather go all in on trying to nab a Mckercher or Watson.

Outside of H Reid, I really like Mckercher, Watson and Curtin. I'd be rapt to get either Reid or 2 of the others.

Wouldn't be the first to let his mullet down during a pre-season but you would want to be sure the (IN) pre-season antic doesn't continue on into the season proper or during a rehab period etc.

Subject to the above and if we got him pretty cheap.... maybe.

Don't see him as a regular mid though so that issue (if there is one) would also need ironing out before either party got serious.

If the hawks are happy to use 3 on Smith, surely that’s good for our draft hand.

Would be an bold move, I think Smith is a bigger marketing asset than on field asset

I don't have much to add - but doing a sportsmans night in some backwater (don't worry I live here) - seems really bizarre... or is it classed as 'fan engagement'?

"Watchya doing tonight darling"

Bumping this thread in light of the growing noise that Bailey will be leaving the Doggies at the end of the year:

https://www.sen.com.au/news/2024/04/15/two-key-dogs-expected-to-stay-but-club-none-the-wiser-on-bailey-smith/

Would you want the Dees to go after him?

12 months ago I would have been a hard no, but with Gus retiring we’ve been exposed for midfield depth and despite some flaws Bailey is still a top end player who will be coming into the prime of his career and would add to our 18-25 age group of players

Not sure I could ever feel comfortable supporting him or going through the annoying conversations with people having a laugh at his haircut, off-field antics, and his on-field... hmmm... can't quite find the word for it to bypass the censors.

Half-gluteal contributions to defence?

Plus; knee, season.

Our priority aside from the talls would be a more rounded and complete midfielder in the Andrew Brayshaw, Luke Davies-Uniake style. (RFAs, 2025)
