Not concerned, the extra two weeks off will make him cherry ripe for the rest of the year. Was more worried he would come back on a wet cold day and hurt the hammy again.

Some things were meant to be YTD.

I'm of the same thinking here that this might be a bullet dodged and also allows him to come back with no soreness & cherry ripe.

I’m kinda relieved Clarry is out. Missing two weeks with a hammy is always a worry. take another 2 weeks off Clarry and get yourself right

Hope the boys draw inspiration from Neal Daniher’s talk to them.  We have a few big outs but so do they. So we have no excuses

Every time the opposition is near or has the ball, the plan should be very simple- pressure, pressure, pressure. No easy gives, no easy gets. GO DEES!!

In - Hibberd

Out - Bowey

Sub - Melksham or Jordon to replace Harmes in that role.

Not convinced a 5 possession game from Joel Smith should be enough for him to stay in the side in such a big game, but expect him to stay.

Surprised the teams are announced on Sunday evening rather than Saturday evening.

Well if you dont have Smith then BBB MUST play, rememembering Melksham missed Casey last week

Clarry's a big loss. But hoping I read this stat line on Tuesday morning

Petracca 34 disposals, 16 contested, 7 clearances. 3 goals. BOG.

Oh, and joint equal favourite $4.50 for Bronwlow.

Sucks Clarry will miss. With DeGoey and Sidebottom out, it would’ve been a rare opportunity to take control of the midfield. That’s harder now.

Carlton are a highly ranked centre clearance side and we smashed their midfield. We'll be OK

5 days in hospital no doubt on a drip with a badly infected foot is way more serious than the hammy injury. Pleased that the club is managing him conservatively.

Dunstan should return this week but isn't at 100% as the initial diagnosis of MCL missed the PCL injury also there. Would love him in but not this week.

You don't know Melbourne's own Premiership player Tayla Harris, world surfing champ Mick Fanning or Melbourne Cup winning jockey Michelle Payne?

As for Abbey Gelmi ... no idea what her claim to fame might be.

She used to read the sport for 7 News in Melbourne on weekends. Also co-hosts various sporting coverages such as the Olympics. Is also the great Herb Elliott's granddaughter.

No to Laurie yes to Woey. I dont think we can win without Clarry! WCW whats your mail on Clarries foot ?

It’s definitely not the hammy. It’s the blister. The infection is under control but they don’t want him playing until he’s 100% right with a view to the pointy end of the season.
Btw, I found out last night that he wouldn’t be playing. There was no way I was gonna divulge anything on here, for obvious reasons. I didn’t wanna be the cause of a group-conniption. 😁

PS bloody Clarrie! Didn’t even tell his family he was in hospital. Michelle and Steve (his parents) only found out when they saw it on the news! 😂

To all the people the player this down initially remember what happened with Michael Hurley at Essendon who also got an infection from a blister which ended his career

This just went from a possible loss to a probable loss

No Clarry and no Petty for the most important H&A game of the season. Typical rubbish Melbourne luck.

Ease up there. Hurley was at the end of his career, and so once he missed an entire year and lost so much weight and conditioning it was always going to be hard to come back.

Clayton had an infection, and is due to come home Sunday - which indicates that medically he’s progressing well.

Let’s not catastrophise. He’ll be back in 2 games.

Carlton are 14th on the ladder and their midfield is ranked 18th for turning contest into score. Collingwood are top of the ladder and have a drastically better performing midfield. They’re barely comparable at this stage and we’ve really got our work cut out for us this week.

I’m expecting a 3 goal loss but would pick this game above all others in the H&A season to win!

Would be great time for Demons to have a win against the Pies  without Oliver!

Sidebottom and De Goey are big outs for Pies as are Oliver & Petty for Dees.

Hoping that Pickett sticks with younger Daicos whenever he is in our forward half.

Demons need high pressure, tackle hard, honour the leads of our forwards and to kick accurately at goal!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
