So hang on he hasn't told the players yet but Tom Morris announced it.

Who leaked the info to him.

I'm guessing there are some phone calls going on tonight

I believe Dimma told it to Bevo, and Bevo is in a Whatspp group with Tom Morris.

pretty poor if the players are finding this out via a tweet

I wonder if he'll have a bevo response. I mean he should be able to tell the players himself.

Meanwhile Michael Voss is rapt because suddenly the attention is off him.

all richmond staff were sent an email to attend a compulsory meeting tomorrow

I think you mean truth 189227.

Sounds like he’d be stepping down after this w/e and not seeing out the season. He owes the Tigs nothing after delivering 3 flags.

Really?

If he is experiencing personal issues and needs to get away from football for his well being then ok.

But if not, surely he owes them the commitment he made at the start of this season - to see the season out, to honour is contract.

Remember he must have been the driver of going after Torranto and Hopper and his pitch prusumably was we are still in the premiership window. Otherwise why tie up so much salary cap space for two mid twenties players on long term contracts?

How does a new coach rebuild?

I'm sure that would have made dimma happy

Inappropriate much?

The affair with the Richmond staffer was inappropriate. Blokes not only a bully and a thug, but a deceitful one at that. Good riddance to him.

It’s so out of the blue that I gotta wonder if he jumped or was pushed? Something tells me there’s a fair bit more to this story than meets the eye.

I lost respect for Hardwick after the 2000 GF but you have to give him kudos for three Flags at Richmond, I won’t miss his press conferences or him.!!

Huge news. Two of the best coaches in the modern era departing within a week of each other.

Maybe they are going to become umpires 😋

Maybe tom broke it because he wants some credibility back or because he is a Melbourne supporter and wanted some revenge from 2000

Mid season? Nice one Dimma... Sore loser syndrome methinks.

Or he's made his decision he doesn't have the drive to see through a rebuild so wants to do the best thing by the club to start preparing for their new coach now. I respect what he's achieved and that he has chosen to step down when he has earned the right to stay on given his success at Richmond.

Has anyone considered that he may have a health issue that requires his full attention?

People who want to hate don't consider things like that

Deserves the respect of every footy fan, three flags should have/ could have been four.

As a coach sure. As a person, nope sorry you dont get respect just because you win stuff.

Interesting two multiple flag winning coaches, both of whom brought their teams up from the mire to sustained success coaching now struggling sides, leave in a matter of days.
Is the fall from grace too much to manage??

If they are in any way related I can only imagine it's because Hardwick has seen the toll coaching has taken on Clarko and seen himself struggling in similar ways.

But I don't think it's a fall from grace situation.

Hardwick has been consistent in saying he'd coach Richmond until he felt he wasn't the right person to take the group forward. That's pragmatic and a win for both parties.

Really he's bailing out now so he doesn't have a Clarko 2019-2021 stretch of futility on his resume.

A minimum of 5 months off, maybe even 23 months off, then he can walk in fresh to a new job.

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
