IN obviously Sparrow and OUT probably Hunter though I have seen many worse. MFC player will be set as an example.

Other INs may depend on who does what in the Casey game.   IF BBB has a good game probably in for JVR.

No way Hunter gets suspended. He stopped and the Port guy ran into him. He stays in the side. The other winger needs to go. Langers was pathetic. Also JVR needs a rest. Absolutely a no show tonight. Many changes needed but I suppose we were that bad and only lost by 4 points shows we can get back into it. The skipper needs to lift.

If hunter gets suspended for that, it will prove my point that the AFL are out to [censored] us up.

Hunter is probably 50/50 to be suspended. Rozee kept playing so I'm leaning towards him being safe.

TMac did his job. JVR was terrible but I'll forgive the kid. Maybe a rest/managed? Has Ben Brown run over Goody's cat? If not, I would make two changes.

In. BB, Sparrow (sub)

Out JVR Jordon (sub)

Sparrow can play a proper game if Lachie gets a week. If Laurie keeps performing for Casey then he probably should be rewarded.

Looking forward to a few jovial Dogga boos and a 40 point Demons win, and we can go back to whinging about not winning by more.

Jvr, Judd mcvee and Chandler have had 3 mediocre weeks in a row after great starts to the year. McDonald is really past it for the role he is being asked to play no mobility or ground ball ability. Hunter several soft acts staying to get on my nerves. Wouldn't be upset if all of the above didn't play next week

In: Brown, Sparrow, Harmes

Out : McDonald, Bowey, McVee he can be the sub.

Hopefully, Brayshaw doesn't play in the middle again after that performance.

B: Hibberd, May, Rivers

HB: Salem, Lever, Brayshaw

C: Langdon, Oliver, Hunter

HF: Pickett, van Rooyen, Neal-Bullen

F: Fritsch, Brown, Spargo

FOLL: Gawn, Petracca, Viney

IC: Harmes, Grundy, Sparrow, Chandler

SUB: McVee

I think it’s time we played that fella that kicked 187 goals in 3 years between 2017-2019.

I get he’s 30 and his body is cooked but he’ll create more of a problem for the opposition than any of JVR, T Mac and Josh Shack.

Out Langdon & Hunter(bruise free footballers & both can’t kick over a jam jar)

In Sparrow & Harmes (they’ll put their bodies on the line in wet contested footy)

One of JVR and TMac needs to go IMO, can’t play them both in the same side. Maybe time to give Brown another go.

Sparrow will come straight back, one of the defenders will go - Bowey if injured. If not maybe McVee. I like him but he’s been quiet recently and the balance of the side is out.

I thought t'mac offered more tonight than van rooyen, might be time to give the 2021 tall forward mix another go. The roo has had an excellent start to his career but he had some dumb moments tonight and a spell at casey could hold him in good stead.

geez its feast or famine for our small forwards, they either have a real crack or just go mia all game, kozzy, chandler and anb all well below their best. Do we pull the trigger and give taj a go?

No body could be worse than what ANB has been over the past month. Fumble, fumble, lose possession, fumble.

Hunter will be rubbed out.

Think we have to stick with JVR. Every game is experience and we have little else.

Daniel Turner has to come in imo.

Jake Levers form has taken a complete nose dive ever since they moved Petty which has left him playing as 2nd key defender which it's been proven over time that he plays his best footy as a floating intercept defender.

We built our our premiership defence off the back of playing 3 tall defenders. Stick to that.

I personally never liked the Petty forward move, in part because I didn’t want to disrupt what I thought was a reliable area for us (the May, Lever, Petty trio).

I don’t think Lever’s form is as bad as others are suggesting but it’s certainly not as good as it was in the first few weeks where he was in AA conversations. I’m not sure whether a third tall will help with that but I’d suspect it would. Turner struggled in his only game so far but I wouldn’t be opposed to giving him another go.

I agree with you on the whole Petty up forward move.

Dropping Turner after one game does nothing for his own development and confidence. He's far too good for VFL level and if there is a time to see whether he's got what it takes at AFL level then it's now while Petty is out.

I like Turner and agree he needs more games at AFL level to develop. He could be in our best side come September and he would provide more flexibility.

The reason he isn't playing is because we have a lot of very good half backs (Rivers, Salem, Bowey, Brayshaw, Hibberd, McVee) who give us a lot of skill and rebound.

But I don't think you can put Lever's form solely on being forced to play taller. And maybe Rivers and Hibberd have been playing better because they are in more intercepting roles?

McVee has dropped significantly in form over the past few weeks.

He can have a spell now that Salem is back.

That still means that one of Rivers or Brayshaw plays midfield if we play 7 defenders.

Struggles to get a kick at Casey but I guess it must be easier at AFL level

Not sure why people seem desperate to promote a player that isn’t in form and seems incapable of making a contest and chase when not in possession

Plenty looked slow last night and you want to add potentially our most immobile player - struggle to see the merit in this

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
