Hugely disappointing. Especially since we couldnt play more than 20 mins of decent footy. Port were a class above us for most of the game

Will be a real chance to miss top 4 if we keep this up

Gameplan and coaching lost that one.

The irony is that Port weren't that good.

We're going nowhere while Goody has them playing like robots

Our coaches cost us that game.

Nkt tagging Butters after half time is inexcusable. And frankly idiotic.

May kicking in to the same f’ing spot every f’ing time is f’ing dumb.

And Yze has been outclassed by other midfield coaches most games this year, sheer talent of Trac and Clarrie paper over this, we get spanked for clearances and like the May kick ins nothing changes.

Goodwin, have a look ya nonce, Butters had 40 million touches, you can put someone near him!

Tmac, go away.

JVR, your over zealous at the player cost us goals.

May, never kick in again.

Score line flatters us, we were beaten for 3.5 qtrs tonight, unfortunately same story as our other losses out worked round the contest, black line under pressure all night, fwd line non functional

Hated the 1st half.

Very proud of our 2nd half.

Our kicking inside F50 needs a shake up. Soooo many opportunities, and some howling shockers from seasoned players.

And although some of our forwards had poor nights, they all put in solid effort. But the delivery to them... sheesh!

We lost it. We won it. We lost it again.

Credit to Port. They’re a very good team. Butters had a great game

Disappointing last quarter. We should have seen it home.

Salem very good on his return. Great to have him back. Rivers fantastic as well.

I hate BT with a passion.

Dust ourselves down and go against Freo next week.

Go Dees

Kenny dancing like he's won the flag. Winners are grinners I guess. Hope we get a shot at them again.

Anyone who will blame the umpiring for this loss is simple papering over the very obvious cracks.
You don’t play an insipid and soft first half against a top 4 side on their home ground and win.

Didn't deserve to win. But what a shocking last throw in by umpire, would've like to see a contest in that final 15 seconds

Goodwin be brave and make some statements with changes.

Langdon needs a spell, JVR cannot read the flight of ball and made silly mistakes. Back to Casey please.

We fumbled all night, they were clean, almost like it was a sunny day for them.

We seriously deserved to lose and got our just rewards.

Make some hard calls Goodwin for once in your life.

Pressure needs to go on our midfield. With Clarry, Trac and Viney getting service from Gawn and Grundy, we should never get belted around the stoppages. To lose clearances 10-0 in the second quarter should be career ending stuff. Heat needs to come on Yze as the midfield coach. We’ve been beaten up around the stoppages consistently this year and it’s become a problem for us being that our game is built off contest and our stats are around the ball.

Easy to get a run on in a quarter when you don't turn up for the other 3.

Tired of hearing about our midfield, rack up the numbers but can apply pressure for 4 quarters. Wonder if it has to do with our terrible fitness coach.

Too tall, too slow for modern football, their midfield was harder at the ball.

port deserved to win it, mistakes by Viney and Roo hurt us badly.

Pack her up and play the kids.

Half the guys out there look like they can't move.

Tank for Reid.

Another game ruined by umpiring. How many will it take, and affecting which clubs, will it take to force an improvement? Because that was truly disgraceful. On another matter, having let Noah Anderson and now Zak Butters make us look ridiculous, can only imagine what Nick Daicos is gonna do.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.
