Read the post please

Bedford is a Laurie type who we drafted

The Hibberd comment was a separate point lamenting the fact that we knew Hibberd was slowing down 3 years ago yet we did little by way of recruiting for that position.

The six Lauries are: Spargo Laurie Moniz Wakefield Woewodin Chandler and Bedford (now gone). 6 players in a similar mould. Sure there are minor differences but they are all from a similar bowl of vanilla ice cream

Rivers and McVee each resemble different stages in the career of Hibberd and with experience both could realistically match his achievements. It is our least concerning area of succession planning.

Trade radio mentioned potential clubs as Cats, Pies and Bombers.

I won't be expecting a trade haul for Harmes, but second would be a win.

Pies? That's a little surprising no?

Geelong makes most sense for mine

Sad to see him go but understand the desire to do so when his chances to play with us have dried up. Absolute gem of a person and team first player.

Geelong would be a great fit for Harmes. Post Selwood & Smith, Dangerfield & Duncan slowing down and Menagola on the out. Harmes at his age could be an important transitional midfielder for them as their next crop come through. Could see him playing 50+ games for Geelong easy.

His form has dropped off badly in recent years. Seems to happen alot when players re sign on heavier coin.

We may have to pay some of his remaining salary. Would Rich/Ess pay half a million for Harmes?

Very surprised there is any interest from those 2 clubs looking to rebuild.

I wouldnt offer any draft picks if i had to pay 500k for him.

It's a question of lifestyle and relocation down there. He may prefer to stay put and go to Essendon.

He will comfortably get a game for either side.

Signing him to a five year deal wasn't perhaps the smartest move. Form in last two year, in particular, has been dreadful.

We have an emotional attachment because he was a Melb supporter growing up, but if we are going to get better we need to find alternatives.

He's been seen checking out the facilities at both Bells Beach and URBNSURF.

Will be sad to see James Harmes go. 😔

But I understand he has had limited opportunities this season.

He is will always be loved as a Demons Premiership player.

Who will ever forget that outstretched arm...just collecting the ball high and powering towards destiny.

That moment is permanently etched in my memory.

Thanks Harmesy !!

I don’t know if it’s a problem on my end but I’d take Menegola > Harmesy every day of the week.

What are the other clubs seeing?

He did an outstanding job on Zac Bailey in the final game in 2022 as well.

I posted a video where Harmes himself literally says in an interview he has a tagging role and @The Jackson FIX still thinks he’s only been used as a tagger in 3 games. 😂 and @dazzledavey36 says I don’t watch football as it’s not Harmes’ role.

I sometimes with I had that level of self- confidence. Or is it delusion?

Whether James Harmes stays or goes he will always be a Premiership player for MFC and will always be remembered for that laces out kick to Fritta to kick that momentum swinging goal that bought Dees back into the ‘21 Granny and for that I will always be grateful.!!

This is getting boring. James Harmes has played occasionally (more like rarely) as a tagger in the past 5 years.

Maxy swings down back sometimes… does that make him a backman?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
