Petty Set to Miss 4-6 Weeks

Well that escalated quickly. The moon boot was never going to be a good sign.ย

ย

4-6 is the worst possible forecast for injuries. Sometimes people never get off the 4-6 week injury forecast

Just when he started to hit some form too.

If Brown and TMac arenโ€™t right I guess they might go with Joel Smithย

We really need Max to step up forward of the ball in the next month. Brown probably comes in, but between him and TMac itโ€™s a raffle to figure out who can stay on the park.ย

Weโ€™ve had no continuity in any of our tall players forward of centre all year.

whoever stepped on him should be shot

finally started to look at home in the fwd and bang!

hopefully be back and match fit by round 20 to get some games in pre finals

ย

Very disappointing for all concerned. ย Our forward set up was just starting to โ€˜settleโ€™ imo, and now the experimentation has to start all over again.

Got to be BBB HOWEVER ....... I would be verrry tempted to throw Joel Smith in!๐Ÿคฉย Please dont go with The Robotic turning circle!

The only positive being that itโ€™s not pre-finals. When depth is so important, because injuries are always going to come. ย

Awful timing, not only was he just starting to look settled in, but would have been huge in trying to play defensibly against Alir this week

ย

Report says itโ€™s ligaments and that needs to heal before rehab starts. ย Here is hoping he is a quick healerย

Left field - Melksham comes in to play defensive role on Allir Aliir.ย

Theyโ€™ll have a tough time playing on Gawn anyway.ย

You are better off bringing Joel Smith to play that role. He has the height and athleticism to go with him.ย

How frustrating! โ€“ for supporters, for the club, and most of all for poor Harry Petty. The half he played on Saturday was the best footy he has played as a forward and would have cemented him as CHF for the season at least.

You heard it first right here (sorry Harry) -

One player who could have been spared that was Harry Petty who was best on ground to that time with six strong marks and two goals. But he had a problem in the form of a bruised foot and was subbed off during the break. Officially, the injury is not considered a problem which means heโ€™s in doubt forย Friday nightโ€™s blockbuster in Adelaide.

Time for Joel Smith to grab his spot. Could be his last chance.ย

This one really stings.

Agreed with others was starting to see some continuity up forward and felt he was just about to see some scoreboard reward for how much work he does in marking contests and off-ball with his physicality.ย

However I think its losing the flexibility that he gives us thats going to give Goodwin headaches. We have been going really well with the two talls and Hibberd playing as the third tall (doing a terrific job i might add) but against bigger teams the luxury of throwing Petty back and playing one of the rucks/Trac more forward will be a shame to lose over the next 4-6.

I think for the above reason I can see McDonald getting the nod over Brown as he can go back where needed. Coaching department favorite Smith might also be considered for this role as the swing man.

Hopefully returns right after the bye, that would be a good result.ย

Looked to me like he did it during or before his mark for his first goal - he was limping as he went back to take the kick. Would playing on have exacerbated it? (spilt milk, I guess...)

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

Itโ€™s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle โ€“ perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
