Pretty sure tracc will be ok but they might rest him. Seems like our philosophy of playing through niggles and what not has been superseded by a September focus.

Commentary seemed to think Petty was ok - subbed as a precaution because the game was all but over.

No obvious ins and outs until we know for sure who is injured

Apart from Footscray and Lions (L1W1) everyone we’ve played (beaten) is bottom eight.
Didn’t beat Essendon.

I doubt we add another tall forward. If Petty isn’t fit, I’m not sure who gets his spot. Goodwin mid-week didn’t sound too positive re Brown. TMac was an emergency tonight but isn’t in form. Schache was most recently in the side but struggled. Smith’s unpredictable and unreliable.

Compare that to Collingwood who have played Geelong, Port, Brisbane and St Kilda.

Would be tempted to swap Jordan for Sparrow (last 2 games have been disappointing).

Brown seems the logical choice for Petty.

Disappointing? Sparrow was in the best against the suns!

Massive game Friday. If we can win this it sure our premiership credentials. I say no change it's the best side we could put on the park. Don't think Salem is in the best 22 anymore.

How can you possibly tell. You are having a "missing or if you are over 50 Werribee  senior moment"

Lets be honest the 2022 version of Salo beaten up, injured and tired of playing golf fit would nit replace xnunifbour fit defenders BUT LUCKILY I remember the 2021 version if that same player who was in the best 3 or 4 on the Granny.

His first quarter on that day was just as good as the stars who shone through during that 7 goal 15 minute "best ever Demon footy " bang bang bang magical winning term.

Would'nt it be lovely 2021 Salo any where in the 2023 team back with his magic.

Not good enough! Let the famous remark of a certain Carlton Premiership winning President ring in your ear Werribee PIGS AR.E

Sorry Werridee about the B. and any other words. You got me all fired up!!

Todd Marshall got another concussion?

True but you can only beat what's in front of you.

We have a proper bloc of games from here to the bye. Port, a resurgent Freo, Carlton and Pies. We'll know a lot more after those games.

Other than injuries no change. Trac after the game said the was no problem with the ankle so i expect he'll play against Port.

Would dearly love to see BBB and TMAc find some form. Can't see Petty, JVR and Max/Grundy carrying this team to victory come September.

Dropping Sparrow?????? Tough call I reckon.

He had a cracking first half but really dropped off in the 2nd. I do the hardnees he brings and he's a strong mark. He stays in.  Cetiris Paribas, no changes for me. Maybe Smith or Bbb as the sub.

Yes likely no change.   Possibly BBB for Petty if the foot issue rules him out.

Agree that Hunter has dropped off a little.  Zero tackles (several missed) shows his defensive work is below par.  Often also taking too long with disposals that slows down ball movement.  Will stay in despite JJ deserving a start.

Spargo just a game.  His late goal gives him relevance.  Goody loves him so he stays in.

Would like to see the “round 1” Kozzzy return (minus the suspension). He’s going his hands to footy but either fumbling or in heavy traffic. Needs to work on being front or behind packs for crumbing.  His pressure rate is still high with another 5 tackles this week.

JVR is a beauty but still raw.  Got pushed aside and under the footy by Sicily.  Needs support.  Petty was good in first half and hope is fit for next week.

Port at home.  A huge test.  We’ve been ok against moderate to low teams so this is a pressure week.

Unfortunately (and I guess with the Tasmanian team coming we need to get used to it) Casey has another bloody bye.  What a joke of a development competition.
Nobody gets a chance to (a) get match fit and (b) show their wares.

I don't think a Tassie team is a certainty mono, see the protests today. Stadium or housing?

This last point was specifically mentioned by May in the Demonland interview.  He even rattlled off a stat about how our scoring from back 50 is competition's best due to the smaller, quicker structure and asked Lever to confirm it. So its something they have now trained for and I daresay is going to stay unless the opposition has 3 genuine talls (which is also something May effectively said).

Interesting considering one of my concerns this year is how we have been carved up on transition a few times.

Agreed. I must be watching a different game because I really rate Hunter.

Excuse my ignorance but how do you pronounce Yartapuulti?

Agree, from watching Hunter live the running he does is incredible. And bobs up in good spots.  Don’t think he’ll be getting dropped anytime soon.

He’s also allowing us to play Ed in a more defensive wing role. Langdon is pushing back to help the defenders while Hunter pushes forward to help the forwards.
He is also helping out the mids around the throw ins. Often he’s close by on the outside to help with the handball receives. He’s been incredibly important and is heavily involved in almost all of our forward ball movements.
I just don’t get why people don’t rate him? Maybe because he was insufferable at the Dogs? 😂

Langdon’s role hasn’t changed at all. They’re both playing wings and running forward and back as the game requires.

Helping out the mids? He’s really poor at the back of stoppages because his lack of burst and toughness sees him miss tackles and get caught in traffic. He’s Zoolander out there with his inability to ever go on his right, not just with kicking but he won’t handball on his right either.

He’s going to ground and giving away the kind of dumb free kicks that veterans who have lost it in the legs do. He’s utterly inept in marking contests.

And honestly some of that would be ok if his kicking was a weapon like when he had time and confidence in preseason. Now it’s at best 1 great kick followed by 3 slow little up and unders and a turnover.

I doubt they drop him just yet but for the last month he’s not giving us anything more than JJ did last year.

Inept in marking contests? Haha mate who's not brought in to be a contested marking beast.

I'm still waiting for an answer on your ridiculous suggestion you made last week that "They've trained the speed out of him" because his too fit?

Explain what exactly this even means from a professional fitness point of view? actually Intrigued to read your answer on this as I would guess you have some sort of qualification to back this up?

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
