In fairness the Suns said from the word go, even before that smug dim witted Christian had cited JVR, that their player was NOT INJURED and that the stretcher was a precaution because he felt a crack in his neck.  He will play this week.
There is just ZERO LOGIC to these findings.

Good get @monoccular. There are few entities emerging from this fiasco with any dignity. The GCS, God bless their souls, are one of a handful. If you had told me a week ago that I'd be bracketing JVR and the Suns inside the same compliment, I would have [censored] myself laughing.

Well the logic if it was followed through by umpires and the AFL is we have entered the era of touch footy! On this ruling you can’t initiate contact with a player in possession of the ball in any way as it could result in injury. Of course the AFL will ignore the logic and ignore similar collisions if it involves a high profile player or a big club in finals contention. And in the finals when the game gets really brutal the MRO will be looking the other way.

Just highlighting the obvious flaw in your expectations of the AFL.

One last chant everyone.

The game is Rooooooo-Ted

Adrian Anderson VAB (very average barrister). There are countless Melbourne supporting barristers at the Victorian Bar, including KC's, who would do a better job

Pathetic. The game gets worse every year. The constant rule changes, the inconsistent umpiring, the inconsistent and pathetic MRO and tribunal system, constantly compromised drafts, uncompetitive franchise teams being a money sink. The list goes on.

I feel sorry for JVR for having to put up with the mistakes made by some detached limpdicked fools in suits. I hope it didn’t effect his confidence and career going forward.

I may boo the AFL at the game this weekend.

Be careful cobber, they will call  you a racist

But my stupid humour aside, i agree 100% with what you said

EDIT - clarity

So, we can expect there to be a six oppo players suspended every week for missing the ball and instead smashing Max in the back of the head in a marking contest.

Really, such utter rubbish.

Fox have a stupid segment called "ear massages" where they have dozen of examples every week.

Chol was unreasonable with possibility to cause serious damage yet not cited.

They pick and choose.

Jonathan Brown has gone pretty hard on this issue.  Got a somewhat better perspective on the issue than Slobo.

Jonathon Brown, Nick Reiwolt and even Kenny Hunter, back in the day would be banned from the game these days. Going back with the flight into a pack to take a mark is just too dangerous! Where is the duty of care?

Oh hold on Jono always kept his eyes on the ball, that would be totally different, that’s safe. I mean if you looked at your opponents before you polaxed them, that’s not upholding your duty of care.

yes it all makes sense now.

@WalkingCivilWar reckon the cheer squad need to put this on the other side of the May 200 game celebration.

RIP AFL. 1858 - May 9th 2023”

If (when? Hopefully when!) we do appeal and JVR finally has the charge dropped might I suggest

"From 6-6-6 and 2-2-0, JVR is good to GO!"

Every year that goes by it’s becoming harder and harder to keep watching AFL, If Hawkins or another big name player did that they would be lauded for bravery for going back with the flight and would never have been sited, the AFL Is a joke

  • Demonland changed the title to JVR’s 2 Weeks Upheld

I’m comforted by this statement on the MFC website:  “The Club will consider all its options before accepting the Tribunal’s decision.”

Spare a quick thought for the kid. A handful of games, now walks away from the tribunal thinking he’s done something wrong. They obviously didn’t believe a word he said otherwise he’d be playing this week.
I hope this doesn’t change the way JVR plays.
A very disappointing decision.

If the near inevitable happens and he doesn't get off, he could do worse than look to Chandler for inspiration on how to keep his chin up, preserve and suceed after getting ffed over by the AFL.

My dog is utterly outraged. He’s gone to sleep with his Melbourne blanket and emotional support chew toy hoping for better news tomorrow.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
