Carlton players seem to be allowed to dispute just about every time they get a free against them - I remember that got 7 goals from 50s against us last preseason (which was excessively overzealous I admit) but they get away with murder.

Love the vision of all the Carlton mongs in the crowd frothing at the mouth.

I’ve still got Carlton at 9th this year, but in a reverse of last year they might have to win the last few to clinch it.

They got pummelled by 90 points. I thought he was one of the only players who looked able to control the ball.

C’mon man. He was atrocious defensively. I laughed at some of the non efforts/laziness he was playing with. If the Roos didn’t have to activate their sub, I reckon he would’ve been the one that would’ve been subbed.

Gee they sure are getting into Voss on Twitter.

Voss has to get the sack you can’t tell me Carlton have improved in 2 years, they suck

Can anyone confirm the person who threw themselves off the balcony at Marvel Stadium wasn’t Michael Voss? #AFLBluesLions

Michael Voss makes Nathan Buckley look like a combination of Norm Smith and Jock McHale #AFLBluesLions

Call me stupid but Voss must be in a little trouble. They are no where near a top team and couldn’t want for a player on the list. Forget their win/loss at the minute they are nowhere #AFLBluesLions

Harry Sharp for Brisbane kicks his first goal in league footy. 2 blokes come up to him for half hearted congratulations.

JVR kicks his his first goal and 58 of his teammates come from all directions to celebrate and embrace the moment.

What's Mitch Robinson holding up? A participation medal?

Best part of the game?  Hearing that Carlscum supporters began leaving the ground at 3/4 time

I've got the volume off. What on earth is Mitch Robinson doing in the crowd with a Guernsey on?

He can't quite retire yet?

He's like Les McQueen from Creme Brulee

It’s hard not to get seduced by the way Brisbane play their footy when their up and about and they have a very talented midfield and forward line.

But, can anyone see them knocking off a Geelong or Collingwood at the MCG in a qual, prelim or GF?

The entire team was atrocious defensively. It was just that the other 17 players also couldn’t find the footy. He’s far from a perfect footballer, but to single him out in the context of that performance seems wild to me.

Perhaps Curnow and McKay will now realise that not every defence is as bad as WCE.   McKay in particular just looks like a spectator when he ant grab a mark.

Think it was his 2015 Merrett-Murray medal  - club champion in a 4 way tie.

Based on the broadcast and hearing from Luke Hodge (old team mate) - Mitch has played 100 games and been sacked by both teams so he gives the medal to the losing team when they play off.

Hahaha 🤣

Roaming Brian is seriously bloody good tonight!

Does BT even realise Andrew Dunkley (father of Josh) was himself a very good reliable Swans defender with a lazy 217 games.

Thanks JB @jamesbrayshaw for the pickup as well

Yep, they took off to order their Tassie jumpers.

Carlton have not improved one iota since the departures of Teague and Bolts.

Numerous top 10 picks, players traded in Cerra, Saad, Newman, Mcgovern, Pittonet etc.

Same old 5hit on repeat from this club.

Blues got a toxic supporter base went tonight and I’d hate to be a player for them, the crowd is so fast to turn on their own. Makes our meltdowns mid game look like a picnic

They were definitely doing a lot of sooking. Some nongs behind were continually calling for 50 whenever a Lions player was following their opponent into the ‘encroachment area’ which they are allowed to do

Carltons kicking was dreadful all night. In fact it was really bad. Their top line players like Walsh and Cripps are close to the worst offenders. If Brissy had kicked straight the it would have been close to 10 goals.

Yep both of them are front runners like most in the baggers team. McKay in my view is a bit soft.

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
