Currently looking at grabbing one of the nifty longsleeve guernseys from the MFC website..

Wondering if I can pay extra for a number on the back (10), or if the club is no longer doing this?..I know that they used to years ago?..

Additionally, I'm be interested if all Demonlanders were given the chance to obtain a free jumper from the club, and you could get a number on the back to represent the love ofyour fave player, which number would you ask for?

My top 3 are:

13

8

31

Pretty sure they still press numbers on underneath the G at the Demon Shop.

I go number 2 (on both my guernseys and duffel coat), always seems to cover someone in the past everyone loves and the current one looks alright as well!

Speaking of jumpers, has our blue gone a fair shade lighter this year?? Or is my TV (or eyes) on the way out?

Only ever had the #5 since the Ox.

Althought if I was to choose one other than the #5, I’d have a hard time choosing between the 36, 1 and 24

They do. I bought a jumper along with a bunch of other stuff and they pressed the number on at no extra cost.

If you bring a jumper in just to have a number put on there’s a charge. I don’t know how much but I’ll find out on Tuesday since I’ll be taking a different jumper to the Demon Shop to get 37 on it.

You’re a Jed Adams fan, Ethan?

Get the number 8 and apply it sideways so it looks like the infinity symbol and the jumper will last forever.

Well, I'd be getting it for the lovely person sitting next to me, and she is convinced that Bailey Fritsch is her brother (he looks Vietnamese, for sure!) so it would have to be 31.

Somewhere in a box at my mum's place (a casualty of multiple moves back in more adventurous times) I have a guernsey signed by Max Gawn before he had even played a game (pre-season, 2010-11). I feel like I should back that up with 11.

Yeah I always need a #5 in the repertoire. The one I have currently was from Trac's second season but homage to Ox.

Last season I bought a long sleeve at the Brunton Ave shop and had a #5 pressed on. The pressing was $15 then I believe. Couldn't order online with the number pressing included as there was no option to do so, but it was all easily arranged in store and done very quickly. Very happy with the result! Good luck.

How do you actually request this though? Last time I bought a jumper there was no option or comments section.

Well, I guess I'd have to go with 'My Boy' (sorry, @Lucifers Hero; 'Our Boy'...), 41.

But he'll be losing the '4' 2027-ish, and I hear the press-on is pretty good quality, so I won't rush.

My boys were talking about getting 37, but I’m worried Kade may be offered a lower number now that he’s tearing it up.

Number 2 could be a solid investment in the future… hopefully 36 is as well.

Why I never thought of that is beyond me.

You just need to ask the salesperson. There’s a little room out the back of the shop wherein there’s one of those old school presses (think Bea Smith on Prisoner). They do it on the spot.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
