Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I definitely agree with the tmac one.

If I remember correctly, wasn't this the reason why they brought in the centre circle in the mid 2000's because of the knee injury to Adam Goodes with the knee clash?

This was also the time that it Took away Jeff Whites greatest strength and that was his ability to run and jump over much taller ruckman back in the guy.

Could be wrong but. .

This is correct, think Michael Gardner had a serious injury as well.

That was the end of Goodes' career as a ruckman.

Was this at Adelaide Oval?

Regardless, I’m sorry your son had to hear that. ☹️ If there is such a person she’s not part of the cheer squad, even if she was in our bay. Foul language is banned. Microphones in the goalposts mean that hefty fines can be issued by the AFL. Besides, she’d be told to cut it out immediately if she was a DA member.

Was at Optus. All good 👍

I don't know why we didn't look for another tall forward given Tmac's foot injury and Weid and Jackson leaving.

We did the best we could I think by drafting Jefferson and bringing in Schache. Just weren't many ready made ones going around.

Except it’s not all good. Kids shouldn’t have to hear that.

At interstate matches there’s usually many Dees fans that aren’t part of the CS but who sit in our bay. If any DA members had heard her swearing or had been told about it she would’ve been told to leave the bay.

Disagree Red. If Max plays against Richmond, and gets through it ok, why wouldn't he play against norf ?

The banner for ANZAC eve will be something to behold! Best I don’t post sneak peek pics, but on one side there’s a line from The Ode of Remembrance. The front of the banner is the pièce de résistance: the ANZAC emblem in the centre with “Lest We Forget” under it. Richmond’s half is a branch covered in wattle and our half is an aeroplane covered in poppies. The wattle and the poppies are huge and all handmade. The 3D effect should look spectacular but that’s never known until such time as it’s seen from afar. I’m guessing it will though. 🙂

Agree Red, players often say it's the 2nd game back after injury that's the toughest. Compounded in this case by a 5 day break.

How is that being a glass half empty?

Viney was training away from the main group on Tuesday with a heavily bandaged knee, and the only time Dunstan has ever played for Melbourne was when Viney was injured. So I am simply putting 2+2 together.

He might just be named on the extended bench because they want to reward him for consistent form at Casey, but it seems odd he was named but Harmes wasn’t.

Just a thought.

Yeah, now I get it Jaded.

I haven't been scrupulous in reading the training reports this week and didn't realise there was something of a question about Viney's fitness.

I realise it's 5 days.

In the normal course of events, Max doesn't take breaks.

If he is 100% fit to play against Richmond, then I see no reason why he wouldn't play against Norf. The exception being how he comes up after the Richmond game.

Too many sips from the wine cask I fear.

After a knee injury you build up the knee strength not thrash it. 2 games in 5 days, imo as a non doctor of course, would be ridiculous.

I realise there is a thing called match hardness that comes through playing. However, if he has been chosen to play against Richmond, I assume the "build up" has beed carried out during rehab/training.

Anyway  Red, we'll find out over the next week or so!

Nobody can question your passion and support for the club. Sounds like a beauty. I wish I could get there. Its such a great night and I reckon is better than the following traditional day game. The phone lights on looks fantastic and it's quite chilling to HEAR 70 thousand be quiet.

Well done. Tx.

Go Dees.

I’m with you Uncle Bitter, if he came in and then was immediately rested for North I would feel like there were complications with his return after playing the Tiges game.

Maybe this week is time for Shack and bring Gawn in v Norf?   Or would it be too radical to play Max this week and play Shack v Norf.  Don't know who is their other ruckman ?

Too much risk (and expectation) having Gawn return with only a short break, afterwards. It's more than physical readiness because if re-injured, his exceptional leadership skills are placed at risk - further at risk than if he was on the pines for this week - as Richmond really will be stretched against us. Your suggestion with Shack is a good one; he deserves a shot as a second ruck or forward target in-between rucking duties. In this situation, thank heavens for Grundy to continue with the Gawn mantel 'in recovery'. We have an assorted - albeit not solely focussed as one - series of leaders in Viney, Lever, May, Clarry, Tracca, etc., who by way of experience, can adequately steer the course of the game against Richmond and provide adequate encouragement where due.

To rest Max out of only the North game would achieve little, imv

However, 'managing' Max out of the North game makes sense if we 'manage' him out of the next one or two games vs GCS and/or Hawks as well.  No disrespect shown - just sensible player management at his age and the physical battering he takes.  There will be few opportunities to give him a 3 weeks break after that stretch of games.

It is what Geelong did with Ottens and to some extent mothballed him ready for finals and won premierships with him.  They did similar last year with Selwood and Dangerfield.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
