Jones = an outstanding performance..we lead the clearances becuase of him

Bater = killed them

and u summed up Bruce to a tee...and it shows why he can't be our captain..that pass at the end to Davey..amongst 3 KP's of Ports...was disgraceful

Harsh on Dunn. he came into it in the last. McDonald was disappointing in IMO he kept losing his footing and that's what ultimately lead to the dubious deliberate. Bruce's turnover in the dying minutes cost us ultimately. No way to I agree White was best on.

Harsh on Moloney too I thought he was good

Pickett was dreadful

Just as well we have still had injuries or Bate would have been at Snndringham, some would suggets in their two's!

very pleased to hear about bate and sylvia's progress, hopefully he learns to play for his team and gets more of the hard ball. What cost us today was our smarts, just very disappointed how we approached the foward 50, hopefully ND can teach the players to get the ball in quickly and kick into space for the fowards to lead into.

Good job today Joeboy, except in regards to Moloney.

Maybe you didn't catch the look on his face when he was running off the ground. It was one of intense pain. He is clearly playing injured and it is an absolute credit to him that up until today, he has been in our best players every single week. He is a great player, and he has so much passion for the jumper.

Hopefully when McLean and Green are back, he gets a week or two off, just to have a bit of a rest.

I can't imagine what pain he must be feeling after seeing him on the boundary line today. I felt incredibly sorry for him actually.

Agree with most, though I was really dissapointed in TJ today, he got plenty of it but gave it away at crucial moments all too often (especially in the final quarter). And aparently Dunn was given the job on negating one of the Cornes brothers in the second half and kept him to 7 possies.

Bit harsh on Bruce i thought. If you watch the replay, he had no other option to kick to, there was no one deep

u should know by now bruce is the villain every week... find one incident per game.... where he did bad.... it haunts him for the week...

Yze prolific not wasteful second efforts were great.... he dooin wat everyone of his critics have asked of him ... give him some credit..

Warnock- has no future.

Bate- its about time.

Precisely, TJ had several chances to pinpoint a forward and instead hit a Port player. Those chances along with some missed shots at goal, meant we lost a game we should have won by 3 -4 goals. I know Neitz has just come back, but he just HAD to kick that last quarter shot at goal. It would have lifted the team and given us extra momentum. I am not downing any players efforts, they all tried their hearts out, but if our skills had been even half as good as our efforts we would have bolted home and still had a chance this year. Now there is nothing to look forward to this year except will we finish 13th, 14th, 15th or 16th, and to be honets that does not grab me.

Brown - Gave great drive

Carroll - Did his job

Warnock - Goal, turnover, tagged

Rivers - Very very consistant

Bell - Was easily beaten

Bruce - Below his standard

Johnstone - One off game

Petterd - Very cleaver player

Moloney - Stop bombing long

McDonald - Melbournes belovered guy

Godfrey - Well done again!

Davey - Gave great run

Pickett - A rare sight

Dunn - Quite till 4th

Miller - Very very quiet

Yze - Some costly turnovers

Neitz - communicate with sylvia

Johnson - His best game

Bate - Proved demonlanders wrong

White - A crutial player

Jones - Wants the ball

Sylvia - Showed some glimpses

I loved watching bate play today. He proved so many demonlanders wrong. I have no doubt that he will be a sensational player and although members think he is slow, cant mark or lead, he had the last laugh. You dont need to be quick to be a good footy player.

Moloney - he needs to look for a target. Its great to take possession and kick long to a pack when likes of Robbo and Neitz are there and not Brendon Lade. He needs to think and find an option. Too many times it was bombed in from the wing or centre square when there was an option he didnt see or think what was needed.

Bell really struggled i thought but did make somewhat of a contest and stopped 2 goals that i could count.

Warnock made a costly mistake but thats what happens. He played a good game i thought and loved his goal

Pettard...jeez i just hope he keeps playing like this and that this isnt a good 2 weeks followed by some time needed at sandy.

Dunn struggled but was great in the 3rd and 4th quarter.

:o

What? I.... I'm just.... what??

Bell was easily beaten? By whom?

Unless easily beaten to you, is letting his opponent kick a goal. Brett Ebert is Port's best, most consistent medium forward. Bell held him to one goal today. FFS, take off the 'anti Bell' glasses will you?

wat did ebert kick? 1.3 or 1.4 now.... of he kicked straight or hadnt hit the post.. or had bell had a free kick payed against him when he slipped into EBERT (and ebert still almost kicked the goal of the ground if it wasnt for some miracle stop by bell).... he could have had easily 5 goals kicked on him today.

his performance was ... ok.... not the best... but his progress and improvment from last year is best by far of anyone in the team

agree entirely with jaded on this one...bell played a fantastic game, his effort chasing into the goal square was second to none all day and deserves its own thread...he runs hard, he's not too bad following the lead, he is strong and spoils well. he has been one of our most consistant backmen all year. if you cant see him as at least breaking even then you obviously aren't watching close enough...

Brown - Glimpses of old

Carroll - Shut down tredrea

Warnock - A learning curb

Rivers - True MFC champion

Bell - Good in patches

Bruce - Injury clouded game

Johnstone - Rounding into form?

Petterd - Confidence, Class, Composure

Moloney - Not at best

McDonald - worked hard today

Godfrey - SHUT DOWN BURGOYNE!

Davey - Good in parts

Pickett - 2007s biggest disaster

Dunn - Still finding feet

Miller - SHOCKING 4QTR EFFORT!

Yze - Move down back??

Neitz - Sluggish yet useful

Johnson - Clinched second ruck

Bate - I TOLD YA!

White - Much better game

Jones - Shades of Judd

Sylvia - Will get better

The dees can take something away from this. Newton in for Miller and we should have a forward set up that will kick a score. It is worth a try!

I think you have got those mostly right Joeboy, although Dunn showed much more and was a lot better in the second half.

And while I didn't get the win for my birthday, I was happy with the way they fought and the fact we looked on a whole a hell of a lot better.

But I am particularly happy with the fact we are no longer on the bottom of the ladder  !!!

BIG RED SIGNING IN:

Jaded Moloney is definitely not a great player and closer to an average player than a good one. Yes I agree he is playing restricted due to injury but would love to know how many of his long bombs actually go to someone and when he will learn to chase an opponent?

Do you think maybe he is going long all the time because that kicking action is less painful on the groins, and that he can't chase because he can't really run? Just a suggession.

I remember his beautiful delivery to Robbo and Neita in 2005 won him a lot of praise. He hasn't lost that, he has just lost the ability to play freely.

He is a great player for our club, mainly because he gives his all and he is passionate about the jumper. I have never seen an MFC player sing the song with so much enthusiasm, and that's great.

He is obviously out there because he wants to be and he is desperate to represent the club, but IMO he shouldn't be.

That one mistake u mentioned where Warnock bombed it long to a port adelaide playa, it wasn't his fault.

if u look back at it, white had the ball, took 20 seconds to look around and decided to handball to a stationary Warnock. Warnock's opponent was 2 metres away and he had no choice but to bomb it long.

Johnstone was okay but needs to do more. Re-enforcements are coming.

White. I'm not sure if i'm marking him harder cause i've lost faith in him but he just had a good game. not BOG.

Bell - year's best tackle

Dunn - a major disappointment

Bate - shades of greatness

Only got to the G @ 1/2 time due to Footy commitments so cant comment on the 1st 60 minutes however,

in the 2nd 1/2 :

Dunn - Was sensational constantly presenting in front of Chad Cornes & winning the footy.

What did he do in the 1st 1/2 to be a major dissapointment???

Belly - Was good but surely Byrons tackle is the years best.

Bate - Shades of greatness. Couldn't agree more he was awesome.

He must of had a long hard think about his footy through the week.

Hang in there, we are about to flick the switch

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
