  1. Lets face it, there are no guarantees, we could be facing a few lean years unless we recruit well. What about Chris Connelly as coach or Todd Viney, perhaps we need a Melbourne man as coach, but then again, they may have the MFC mediocraty culture ingrained so perhaps someone from a highly successful club would be good, such as Voss or McKenna. Its a tough one, they have to see who is out there and not make any quick decisions. Some coaches may not be available till the year ends so we have to wait till then
  2. Depends how they perform next couple of rounds, if the wheels fall off completely perhaps he should go, but my general feeling is to stay till the end of the year. If he goes early put the assistant coach in to do the job, that is what they did in 96 when Neil Balme went, Greg Hutchieson did the job (and did it pretty well as I recall).
  3. Sums up the way I feel too, you build up your hopes after a couple of reasonable efforts, then this, I'm glad Wimbeldon is coming up, I can watch that and forget the AFL
  4. If Richo had kicked straight, dazzledavey36 , tonight would have rivalled the Tigers v Geelong earlier this year, they could have had another 5 - 6 goals easy
  5. Just how bad does the senior team need to play before they give Newton a game. Lets us all hope they cannot play any worse than tonight, but with MFC you never know
  6. I think we should raise a white flag from the dressing rooms before the bounce next Friday against Essendon, and let everyone go home, it could be very very ugly, then again they might decide to try next week, who knows, who cares
  7. I think our forward line is too good for Newton to get a game, I mean where could you squeeze him into a lineup like tonight (heavy sarcasm), maybe next year (if he does not get fedup and go to another club first !, could not blame him)
  8. Ward - Useles Carroll - Totally useless Bizzell - Useful Bell - Extremely useless, could hit a player from 20 metres Bate - moderately useless Wheatley - useful Yze - completely useless Pickett - usedup and useless Davey - did little useful Green - useless White - very useful Johnson - useful Holland - useless first half, useful second half Petterd - useful in patches Frawley - useful at Sandringham, not MFC Bruce - useless McDonald - useless McLean - useless Godfrey - useful Sylvia - useless Robertson - useless Drop half the team, don't put up with this type of effort OK the above is written in total frustration, but why did we have to cop more of this type of performance, haven't we had enough already this year !!!
  9. Time to go ND We had our slump this year, we got players back and we won a couple of games and lost a couple we should have won, but we put in, but not tonight, this was a defining game showing MFC's lack of ticker and its time to say , enough is enough, if you serve that crap up, then the coach has to go, if not are we condoning that insipidness.
  10. I have supported ND up till now, but that first half effort was very reminiscent of the Dee's against Port in Neil Balme's last year, that game cost him his coaching job. At least a team has to look like they are interested and trying. MFC did not do that, they were bloody weak. New coach needed
  11. No excuse for that performance MFC, cannot blame injuries, cannot blame game plans, had a good team on the field, just a plain woeful effort. Typcial MFC culture, win a game or two and think that it will keep coming easy. Shocking, no wonder membership is so low
  12. I went to yesterdays game, my first game since the Geelong elimination final loss in 2005. I had a feeling they would come through and it was fantastic. Great crowd, great effort by Melbourne and great to beat the pies. Robbo was fantastic, he is such a team lifter, Paul Johnson impressed me, apart from his shooting for goal. Bate was awesome, Jones really gets in and under, the backline are looking much better, kick-ins were exciting to watch (instead of nerve racking !) setting up attacks. I have to admit I thought the Pies were given a few raw umpiring decisions with the hands in the back but we were stiff with a couple of 50 metre penalites which cost us goals. I saw plenty of room for improvement for the Dee's and if we do keep improving as we have the last couple of weeks we could be in for an exciting last half of the season. We did 11/12 last year, can we dare to dream we are not out of this years race yet?
  13. Most enjoyable preview, that will keep me going all weekend, I will be there Monday cheering for the Dee's, the team is settled, the key players are back and match hardended, the opposition is tough, this week we will see the true measure of the MFC, I just hope they make us proud.
  14. I say, lets take it one week at a time, starting Monday, Go Dee's and keep the dream alive (however forlorn it is, it is still mathematically possible) !
  15. Thanks for your post, Sad that often people are summed up or judged by the manner of their passing than their true worth. He sounds like a thoroughly decent man who should be remembered for the good that he did.
