POSTGAME: Rd 03 vs Sydney

Demonland

I couldn’t watch the game because unfortunately I’m cruising through the Mediterranean, currently floating off the coast of Sorrento. Can’t wait to see the replay.

There’s not really any point to this story. Just gloating.

6 disposals from Spargo resulted in 2 goals, 1 goal assist, 3 score involvements. Every touch led to a score.

Just FYI I'm pretty sure the goal assist and the 2 goals all count as score involvements.

A great game and a great win!

A wonderful debut game from Jacob van Rooyen.

Glad we had a win for Clayton Oliver's 150th game!

Hopefully Ben Brown's back is ok?

Bring on West Coast next week!

GO DEMONS!!!! 🔴🔵👹

Cannot believe how comfortable I felt from the outset at the game today, a rare feeling. The entire team busted their asses and I could throw a blanket over votes.

Unbelievably rare against a team like the Swans who are traditionally relentless across the park against us.

JVR is the first ‘true’ pack hitting forward we’ve had since Neitz and it’s a beautiful thing. Lever clearly fit this year and even better with May at his side.

McVee compliments Bowey beautifully with ball use off half back and huge props to Grundy, Clarry and Tracc for wrestling back the stoppage issues in the second half. Couldn’t pin point a bad contributor. One of the best recent wins I can remember seeing live.

A good team wide response to the game they served up last week.

Midfield was much sharper today with excellent pressure and intensity. It really does make a world of difference to the team performance in the forward and back 50 arcs. The selection was spot on this week and the team was well coached on the day. Goodwin played them to their strengths and they stood up when challenged, both as a team and as individuals.

What to say about JVR's debut??? Really, all you could ask for. Put himself about, tackled tirelessly and kicked a few. A lot of good games in there. Chandler, Spargo, Jordon, Sparrow, Rivers, McVee and Hibberd....... lesser lights but all had telling contributions.

Liked Grundy's game. It improved the longer the game went on.

Viney will need to find some form to keep his spot. In a strongly performing midfield and with depth knocking on the door, you need to be 'on' every week.

A lot to like from this game.

Kossie back next week??? Who do you take out of that side for him? Tough decisions to make. The performance of the small forwards this week shows what my lie ahead if he walks at the end of the season. I would have him in the team next week and want him to sign on for another couple of seasons at least but today's performance gives me high hopes for the future.

Nice one Boys!

If you were Kossie why would you walk? He may not be paid quite as much as some of the lower sides would pay him, but he would be very well paid. You just need to look at Jackson at Fremantle to see how very good players can become rapidly irrelevant if they are also not in very good teams. I’m sure Goodie and the boys would be pointing that out to him. I’d be staggered if he walked….

Fully concur with a lot of other posters regarding the performance of the team.  How exciting are our young uns!

For Langdon - although it didn't pay off with the big 6 points multiple times, it was really good to see him having an attacking mindset.  Three behinds ain't a bad effort for a winger, we just need to get Choco to help convert them in future!  Hunter was fantastic of course, clearly back up and running now he's out of the Doghouse (both literally and figuratively).

Agreed re slotting at leaat one of the three.  Also the last one running in, he had 2 to 3 loosish options ahead with an OTT handball if he lowered his vision.

Easy to say from the bleaches and much harder to pull off under heat but i would be surprised if that doesn't receive a minor mention as part of his review on Monday.

Trying to find some media write ups. The Sun has nothing on our game even though it was a smashing of last years grand finalist. and the Age has a small article hidden away

god knows if we lost by 50 we’d be on the back page!

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
