And so they should. A lot of below average performances across the ground tonight so far.

That said - It isn't over until the fat lady is singing. She might be warming up her vocal chords, but we aint done yet.

Haven’t been smashed like this in a while…just have to take the L and move on sadly

OMc just letting Grundy tap it to their players.  It’s freaking embarrassing this performance.

No spirit in this team.

The bombing is back Tracc!  Ughhh

Tomlinson is not AFL standard.

Would prefer Dan Turner, honestly.

Gee a lot of people would have had you fooled last week on that one.

footy = tennis

This one is in our 10%

There's losing and then there's getting done like a dinner.

Really?  How about outplayed, as well as maybe being shellshocked at losing our best player early in the game?

Really.  Few players have been played to their usual standards. Brisbane have been more switched on since the first bounce.
Agree we are being outplayed and no doubt Max going down has had an impact.

So if they said they could rule out and then it was, would that be less demoralising?

It is what it is, and we need to move on regardless.

And what an absolute piece of excrement is Grant Thomas making those comments.  Just scum.

Im watching it on Kayo what did grant say?

Well I do hope that they (all) have a good long look at it, I hope they hate doing so.

I reckon if Chris Scott coached us he’d have a lot to say about the variability of surfaces and conditions in Queensland versus Victoria in March.

We won’t say a thing. Good.

Beaten because we failed to execute the most basic non negotiables of our side. We got destroyed in every area that we generally excel at. Inexcusable.

Well yeah, pretty much.

But Lions have taken their chances, that's footy I guess.

Are we at least going to make this an honourable loss. Big difference between drawing this to a couple of goals and a 10 goal loss. Might be a good start winning some clearances.

No one in this team (or coaches box) is willing to do something to change the game. I don’t care if we turn into the skid, just do something.

Sorry we are gone worst loss in 10 years!

Anyone who thinks we are getting thumped because Brisbane are a far superior side, are being very kind.

Brisbane look ok. They’re handling the conditions better in the heat which is expected, but we have crapped out pants here. Can’t win a clearance. Losing contested and ground balls. Turning the ball over. The most un-Melbourne performance of the last 3 years.

There are losses and then there are losses. This is making the Lions look better then they are.

The hype around us seriously gets to the players heads and we just turn up, expecting magic to happen.

I have no idea what our midfield has been up to tonight. The fumbles, the 0.5 handballing, but most of all the kicking. How bad have Viney, Brayshaw, Oliver and Petracca been by foot? The long bombs into the F59 remind me of Brent moloney.

But in that quarter some of the defensive efforts were insipid.

I don’t think Grundy has taken a mark

Wow 2nd game of the year comments like this  😅

I do wonder if there’s more to the conditions. I never see Tracc and Oliver find it this hard to maintain control of the ball.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • POSTGAME: Geelong

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
