I think I would prefer to get Silvagni than Melksham based on the injury, age and Silvagni’s ability to play second ruck.

🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

Silvagni is a hack!

I read somewhere (and I CBF looking for it) that Melk's ACL tear was one of the "better" ones and all going well he may be available mid season. That kinda reinforces the decision to contract him for another year

He isn't coming back from an ACL tear at his age.  My understanding is that if you are injured and delisted you still get some sort of remuneration from AFL until you are fully recovered, plus you still will have access to the best rehab.

As good as he was for a handful of games, he should be delisted, maybe rookie him at best

Fair enough. But if the Dogs are holding back on offering him a contract then rest assured he ain't that good. This is a club that took our C graders Hannan and Baker off our hands!

It's also  club that has in the last 18 months got Ugle Hagen, Lobb, and Darcy

You might find this interesting because at this stage I don’t believe the media even know about it.

As strange as it seems, Taylor Adams from the Pies has contacted the Swans himself to discuss their interest in him moving there. Wants to play more midfield and clearly feels he’s not getting the love from the Pies.

Totally separate to this, my sources tell me that Callum Mills has badly damaged his shoulder/collarbone in a mad Monday wrestling match and will miss a major part of preseason. Apparently Longmire was as angry as he’s ever been after hearing about it.

Any targets for the Dees mate?

Interesting. Sydney already have a cracking young midfield and a 29 year old might find his opportunities limited there as well.

Thanks for the intel GWD

As I say, despite Swans being in for everybody, they didn’t initiate contact. I’m hearing they’re pretty cool based on his history of groins & hammys.

He’s been ruled out of the prelim with a hammy. His body is just not it anymore.

Hey DD. I’m not hearing much at the moment except for a few gentle enquires they’re making here and there.  That said, I wasn’t aware of the McAdam one.  I’ll let you know if and when I can.

Thanks. I think we’re all feeling a bit desperate for good news.

I have mentioned this a few times, but I would absolutely love for the Demons to enquire about Josh Sinn from Port Adelaide.

He's a Victorian lad and would be a fantastic replacement for Michael Hibberd who is now retiring.

surely we're in for dougal howard if the saints are throwing him up, wouldn't be opposed to him playing 22 games for us next season if petty is going to be a forward

Well let’s hope none of our players hurt themselves doing stupid [censored] on mad Monday.

he's as slow and as poor a decision maker as tomlinson

having watched may gesticulate madly about tommo's positioning to tommo on friday night we'd be sending steven to an early retirement if we picked up dougal

Anyone notice how bad Duursma was on the weekend?

7 touches

Double posting a little here but surely we try and loosen one of Sydney's young forwards in the 14-20 goal range for Grundy?

One of McDonald, McLean and Amartey will need a new home

3 big forwards plus Grundy won't work

He's a battler. Burst onto the scene 4-5 years ago with great run and found a bit of ball. His ball use has always ben suspect though, and he's been pushed out of the midfield rotation by superior players. He'll likely find a home somewhere else in future, but he's a battler and wouldn't get a game for us.

His younger brother in the draft this year on the other hand... he's got potential.

I saw a video of ‘big game Zane’ last week via BigFooty. I might be alone here but what you described above seemed to forecast what I thought

Saw this rumour on Reddit about Spargo. Not sure if it's just drawing conclusions based on family links or they're actual "small rumblings"

"Ins are likely to be Stephens and Fisher though there seems to be some small rumblings about Charlie Spargo which is a watch this space as he has family links with North and Clarko. A mature defender or two as well but maybe the state leagues for these."

Interesting.

I back our FD in to make some moves, and there could be a couple on the trade block.

I don't want to lose Spargo for a late 2nd or 3rd, his semi final showed what we'd been missing - but if this is in someway connected with trading Our Firsts and Spargo for that pick #2 and then coming at WCE with an ultimatum on Reid/Curtin, then its a smart move - If North were willing.

  • GAMEDAY: Geelong

It's Game Day, and reinforcements are finally arriving for the Demons—but will it be too little, too late? They're heading down the freeway to face a Cats side returning home to their fortress after two straight losses, desperate to reignite their own season. Can the Demons breathe new life into their campaign, or will it slip even further from their grasp?

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit.
Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.
