Might be able to fast track Verral & start blooding him slowly from about mid way through next season.

Not commenting on BG's future; just noting Max, in his interview with Jack V this week, said AA ruckman Mark Jamar never let him win a ruck contest at training but Verrall manages to beat him on occasions.

I was told in early July, from an insider, that Grundy will be at the Sydney Swans next year, in a 2-3 club mega deal.
Of course things can change, but that was the planning as of then.

very interesting to see what happens. I still think we may use Brodie in September….

That is interesting as he is from Adelaide and has been in Melbourne since being drafted. I would have thought he would pick either Port or another Victorian club, but maybe he just wants to see Sydney.

For his own sake, Grundy needs to look elsewhere, and the Dees cannot afford to pay a salary of that size for a VFL player. I feel genuinely sad for the bloke and wish it could have worked out better.

From what I have seen of him at Casey, Will Verrall shows some real potential. Aggressive, and follows up at ground level. Doesn't get a lot of it, but a genuine work in progress.

Surely 4+ clubs is a mega deal

But anyhoo, Dylan Stephens from Sydney is looking to come to Victoria, perhaps he would be in the deal?

orright i'll play...

dees give: pick 5, pick 18, future first, grundy
dees get: pick 1, bloods 2nd rounder

swans give: dyl stephens, 2nd rounder
swans get: grundy

north get: pick 5, pick 18, dyl stephens
north give: pick 2

meth coke get: pick 2, mfc future 1st
meth coke give: pick 1

there might be further wheeling and dealing of 2nd and 3rd rounders for 2023 and 2024, but that MIGHT work for all and sundry...

If i was Grundy, I'd look to move one. He's way too good to be a backup ruck.

However, Gawn has a lot of miles on the clock. And a large part of the thinking regards bringing Grundy in was it could extend Maxy's career. He can't shoulder ruck duties on his own. We'll accelerate the end of his career if we revert to that.

It's a big conundrum to figure through before the trade period. Personally, I reckon we should hold Grundy for another year and see how things play out.

I’d say it’s a hard no on Dylan Stephens. Shades of Toumpas.

Ben McKay might fancy North's fortunes over the bombers after this weekend.

Good luck to him. From inside the roos I’m told he is very weird unit & they don’t think he’s anywhere near worth what it’d cost for him to return 1st round compensation. Surely Brad Scott would be aware of this too from his time there.

So unless I have misunderstood, we give up 5, 18 and next year’s first ( 3 first rounders ) and an AA ruckman we paid 27 for and get 1 and say 30.

I mean……… it’s not the worst trade suggestion I’ve read on here.

Would I do that deal though?

Well not quite $650k, as we will have to replace him, so maybe $250k.

Maybe grandson, or more likely great grandson.

Reputedly Christmas Eve 1997. Never since.

Will Verrall, pick 14 2022, shows promising potential.

I trust Jason Taylor in finding a ruckman to replace/assist Max.

From what I hear and read, Verrall is coming along really nicely but even Max tool maybe 3 years to establish himself.

2024 is very optimistic but as I have said before, better an optimist who is sometimes wrong than a pessimist who is always right.

Brundy may get a look at Sydney next weekend, especially if we win tomorrow and manage / rest Max next week.

Could maybe try and get Darcy from Fremantle as he and Jackson don't seem to be working that well and they can't give up on Jacko. In an ironic twist we could give them back their second rounder. Darcy is at least a better forward than Grundy.

From what I've seen Verrall is a long way off.

I think the two great ruckman experiment has ended.

Verrall is still skinny and Darcy fat as mud

Morning, still no rumours?  ☀️

If Darcy leaves he will go to a finals club, or at least a big club, where he is number 1 ruck.

The managers have all seen what happens when 2 number 1 ruckmen are on the same list.

According to some, Brodie Grundy could request a trade.

According to some a deal is just about done.

I think we need to add some pace to our side like Bobby Hill or Toby Bedford.

Oh!

Maybe Liam Henry could be an option, though he plays slightly differently.

Grundy to Cats

Grundy to Power

Grundy to Swans

lots of options

it was always a strange decision to recruit him, and how would they go sharing ruck and playing forward. An experiment at best

but if he goes, who’s the backup ruck to Max.  Verrell is still developing. Needs another 12 months at least. Farris-White is still learning, too raw and skinny.

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
