  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Rival clubs fume at Collingwood’s hold on MCG seats

Vince McMahon would have been nothing without Hulk Hogan, who cares.

You see how dangerous it is to make sweeping statements like Eddie's? If it wasn't for the late 1890s depression there would be no CFC, that depression built that club and they would be nothing without it, people should not underestimate it.

From a Melbourne perspective the Ponsford thing doesn't bother me. We wouldn't fill it anyway so it doesn't really impact us. If we get to the stage where we can pull big home crowds then it will be an issue (as it is and should be for Richmond) but until then let them have it.

What annoys me though is they get the home change rooms regardless of whether it's a home game or not. Might seem like a small/insignificant thing but if it is then why do they request it? It's a mindset that they are the home club regardless of fixture so in effect they are getting 14 home games a year with the Ponsford seating/change room deal. Good on them for being able to wrangle that but surely it's time the MCC put a stop to it.

Oh and by the way Eddie Collingwood members did not build the southern stand, AFL members were the ones contributing funds to help build it.

Collingwood are on the defensive because they are trying to salvage a deal which clearly benefits their members. That in itself is fine.

Its the recreating of history that I strongly object to. Collingwood knows they do not have a real claim to the G, and had nothing to do with the construction of either stand (which were constructed for the '92 Cricket World Cup and '06 Commonwealth Games respectively), other than moving home games there. They cannot compete with the 160 odd years of history the Dees have with the MCC and ground.

The most frustrating thing is their supporters read this stuff and believe it...

This whole narrative should be motivation for every Dees fan to get to King’s Birthday this year and ensure we completely outnumber the scum bags. Seriously had it up to here with Collingwood rewriting history. Last week Kelly said they were the first MCG tenants, now this garbage from old big head Eddie. It’s our turf, time to let ‘em know

Our players and coaches need to take responsibility to actually go out and win the game too. Our shocking record against Collingwood is probably the biggest knock on our current era.

Breath taking in its arrogance. And the MCC members? What were they doing all those years?

An utter crock served up by CK and EM.

And that's without mentioning the Cain Government which oversaw the Southern Stand rebuild by offering loan guarantees. I remember John Cain fretting over what the public would think when they realised the stand would hang over Brunton Avenue. (They hardly noticed)

Yep, and our club needs to own the day and make members aware of the importance of being the 19th man. Time to get it done

you are definitely correct.. the old Southern Stand was built in 1936-37.

For its day it was a great build with the new Southern stand not being that much of an upgrade when compared to the new Northern stand that replaced the old Northern stand which was itself newer than the old Southern stand

Did someone in this thread really say I should be appreciative of McGuire giving us home QB for a few years?

Mike Myers No GIF

Ridiculously favourable draws, far less travel, etc. they got enough breaks to throw a few bones out.

This historical revisionism is vile, nearly up there with those Americans that say “we never talk about the ‘good’ slave holders?!”

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
