LJ traded back to us for a 4th rounder sounds fair

They would need to pay 80% of his wage for us to fit him in.

He needs to do 3 years of purgatory at GWS first. So I propose a 3 way trade involving Hogan to us and our 4th to Freo

Yes ,very true about purgatory.

But even GWS might pivot at buying Jacksons massive contact from Freo.

Even if Freo paid 300k annually for years to come GWS still have to shell out 600k every year.

If Jackson turns out to be a lazy footballer he might be untradeable.

Wow, Freo turning on LJ quicker than I expected!

"Fremantle great Paul Hasleby believes his old club would be omitting Luke Jackson this weekend if he wasn’t a big-name recruit."

"Jackson hasn’t proven anything really in the AFL. He played a great quarter in a Grand Final, but all of last year, if we’re being brutally honest, it was just average football from him,” he said."

Needs to revisit that third quarter of the GF if you ask me - more about Trac, Clarry and Viney than Luke.

Not saying he isn't a real talent as I believe he is - BUT it was our midfielders that did the damage in the GF.

I have no issue with Jackson.  He made his decision and his absences is a long term issue that we have time to solve (Even him coming back in the future)

His manager should have had this conversation with him as part of the move.  Young player on big money (reportedly) will be the focus and whipping boy of failure in WA.  Even worse if its a Freo player, (WC players are more of a protected species from the WC dominated media).

Sadly I believe he cannot live up to the expectations the have been set by the media and the club in him joining then such big money int he short term, hence it will become the focus of the teams ills.  The second (Pointed out by many including me last year) there is not a clear position for him to play int he current Freo structure.  This will possibly destroy him as he tries to develop, not matter what mum does and says.

Lastly his arrival (trades needed to get done) and the need to play him based upon contract has upset the balance in the free team that have not been rectified yet.   If they don't play him, it will be worse in the media based on what has happened to previous players in that position.  Including a couple of very talented but less focussed ex-dees.

Jackson played 2 decent games last year and one of them he was as our number 1 ruck when Gawn was out of the side against Brisbane.

He's clearly a better ruck than forward and yet Freo are going to play him as a 75/25 forward because Darcy is clearly their number one ruck.

Unless Jackson can start taking 1.5 contested clunks a game up forward and kick his 1.5 goals a week, I can't see how he'll be justifying his hefty wage.

"Jackson hasn't done anything except stand up on the biggest stage of all when it counted and make a significant contribution to turning the tide in a grand final when it was looking shaky", said In Harmes Way, whilst also pointing out that Paul Haselby has never won anything himself, having played over 200 games to only play in two losing finals, so shouldn't throw stones.

Yeah. Way to double down and put more pressure on the kid. FMD

No need to post 12 almost identical photos trying to prove that their unicorn can mark a footy at training under no pressure on a piece of plastic.

It’s like he’s a real footballer guys

Jackson will be laughing if Jeremy McGovern comes out to play on Sunday with a big padded bag on his back.

Well said.

No one can ever take that moment from him. And yet here we are - Dees fans - minimising it to stroke our chins about a kid who made a bad decision.

Can't stop thinking that the best scenario for all parties involved was for Jackson to help the club to trade with WC.

That would've given us a top pick, he would go home, no pressure like in Freo and he could develop his footy in the next 2 or 3 years, knowing WC is not in a rush to win it all.

And nobody has taken that moment away from him. He’s always going to be a premiership player.

But let’s not pretend like we won a flag because of him. He won a flag because he played for us.

Yeah, ok, you give a few people on here too much credit.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #32 Tom Sparrow

The rugged Sparrow’s career appears to have plateaued in recent years. He makes the side on a week to week basis but he is unable to establish a foothold in the team’s midfield and arguably performs best outside of the contest in a forward position without being a goal kicker. He remains a good honest foot soldier but is not a star.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #33 Tom Fullarton

Fullarton managed a couple of games in the first half of the season but soon found himself back in the VFL. There, he found a niche at centre half back but it was not enough to retain a place on the list at season’s end.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #35 Harrison Petty

Entering 2025, it looked as if Petty would be secured in a defensive position, but plans shifted and he spent more time forward, averaging just over a goal per game throughout the season. It remains uncertain which area of the ground he will be expected to cover under the new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The dynamic small forward, possessing an innate ability to generate excitement with his explosive play around the goals, successfully transitioned into a role that afforded him more time in the midfield. The club also negotiated a long-term deal with Pickett, thereby eliminating any prospect of a move west by their star young player.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #37 Kade Chandler

For a few years now, he has been a reliable, hard working pressure forward, but in 2025, Chandler elevated his performance, becoming an integral component of the team with enough versatility to play effectively on a wing from time to time.
