Then yes please! Bailey is a freak.

I think if the criticism of this kid is that he’s more a Hipwood than a Hawkins then that’s ok. We always need more skill and diverse options forward of the ball.

The top two things for me that a KPD should have as part of their game is contested marking and goal kicking. After watching the two highlights packages of both Cadman and Jefferson several times IMO Jefferson has Cadman covered in both those areas. I’m then asking myself why is Cadman rated so far ahead of Jefferson phantom drafts. Cadman kicked 34 in 12 games this year which is a great achievement, Jefferson only played the six games (I’m guessing he was injured) for 14 goals. Cadman is more imposing at under 18’s at 88kg, 12kg’s heavier than Jefferson.

I’m thinking the National Championship is the biggest stage these kids have played on so their respective highlights for these games should be regarded higher than their TAC games. I would not be disappointed if we selected Jefferson with our first pick.

Jefferson missed games at NAB level due to APS commitments with Wesley College. The stats I could find shows he kicked 25 goals in 6 games at that level.

Including a bag of 5 when directly opposed to his Chargers/Metro teammate Max Gruzewski. In fairness to Gru, I believe it was his first game back from injury.

He can take him on again, against the Giants.

Said this in a different fashion last week.

JVR was not scrutinised with his life like Matthew is being  and it's majorly his physical devopment. Yes needs building up but the prototype must be Fritta whom has developed each year since 2018. And Jeffo will join some very good players in our team and on the forward line. Part of a unit Dees always play best with that part of a team all being responsible and each different.

Get him ASAP pick 13 or higher!

Although he looks spindly thin, there have been reports that he’s put on weight since the start of the season. Does the AFL have any data on the latest height and weight information for the current draft prospects?

Matthew Is now 84kgs and 195m And believe  aware of his development and need for this change.

I am very  bullish and pick 13 must go to Matthew if he is available.
Might even turn out better than Cadman!!!

My view is this. Lets ask ourselves what our key forward stock will be in 2 years time without Brown and McDonald. Yes we can get one in a trade, but good ones are very hard to get and we shouldn’t bank on that. Without picking Jefferson, in 2 years time we have JVR (in his 4th year) and Schache (a back up KPF) and that’s it! Yes, we can get a Key Fwd in next years draft, but in 2 years time he’ll have only 1 year experience. JVR and and a 19 yr old won’t hold up when we’re contending. Key forwards normally take 3 to 5 years.

With Jefferson it is:

-JVR (in his 4th year).

-Jefferson (in his 3rd year).

-Schache (a back up KPF).

I'll pass thanks

What makes you think that?

Not only is this behind a firewall but judging from the names of the authors, it also seems to be connected to the Herald Sun and Murdoch Media. So if you happen to already have a subscription to the HS (as I do via my wife’s account) then you still need to subscribe to this lot. Clever marketing but I’m not buying.

Matthew Jefferson will play many great games for the Red and Blue if selected🤩

Slowly coming around to Jefferson the more I've thought about him in depth and the position he players and just watching his video's.

My only concern is that if we were to select him, his career would pan out more as that floating 3rd tall then a key positional FF or CHF.

Similar to how Jack Watts career panned when we all hoped he was going to be that traditional key forward that we lacked since Neitz retired.

Getting strong Lucas Cook vibes for this draft...

The 2010 draft was compromised by the Gold Coast and the recruiters had not become as professional as they are today the lad looked good in his highlights but was a 1 trick pony basically bigger and stronger than his opponents, lacked mobility required for AFL.

He may still grow a bit as well.

Still, I have always had the distinct impression we hitched our star to Tom Lynch, who then ended up going to Gold Coast a pick earlier. Lucas Cook was a hastily-hatched ill-considered back-up plan based off his AA credentials and little more. But we were also hamstrung by the lack of quality alternatives available once our preferred choices were gone.

The fact of the matter is that Cook was selected as the All Australian CHF off the back of some very solid form at Under 18 level while Lynch had only recently shown draft worthy form. At the time, it looked like a solid drafting decision but after one training run, he was cooked (pun intended).

At the time it reeked of selection based on positional needs irrespective of the talent on offer. Lynch was clearly the superior option going into the draft.

We need a tall forward. Without a doubt. Jefferson is the right age, right height and will likely be picked up around our first pick in the draft.

Is he actually good enough though? What if we get to 2025 and Jefferson is a bust? Most will back in Jason Taylor to make the correct decision. I just hope it's not a case of 'we needed a tall and he was what was available at the time'. Which is how I feel about the Lucas Cook draft pick.
