Daicos did more in his first half of AFL footy than Toumpas did his whole career. No dig at Toumpas, some just aren’t made for AFL. Daicos is.

We could potentially offer the same pick package for picks 5 & 25 to Gold Coast, assuming Essendon do select Tsatas as per Twomey's phantom draft, and still have the Poo available, but Essendon are the only ones we seem to have offered it to.

Toumpas wasn't a poor pick, it just turned out that the 18 year old Jimmy was a good as it got. No-one has a crystal ball on 18 year olds and their football careers. Here's "Draft Guru" Callum Twomey back in the day:

He got picked on 6 months of performances. He was injured for half the year and the year before that he wasn't even in the state side. Toumpas and Trengove got picked on SANFL performances which was a mistake. Martin and Wines were ready made players in hindsight we should have picked them, but in the end it worked out fine because if we picked up Martin and Wines we wouldn't have Trac or Clarry.

Toumpas didn’t work out, but it was most definitely due to poor culture and poor development, and less so due to poor recruitment. You cannot select that many players at the top end of the draft and have them all fail. Pure statistics say you’d nail at least something. The problem has since been proven to be culture and development. So many of those youngsters started their careers brightly, only to go backwards at a rate of knots.

Trengove's other problem was he wasn't a clearance player he couldn't get his own ball while Martin could.

Incorrect. He was well rounded both inside and outside, and in his second year was averaging four clearances and 9 contested possessions a game - same as Martin. No point continuing line of discussion though as it’s derailing the thread.

Interesting how many stories have come out about us trying to trade up. It’s really a shame we weren’t able to get more out of the Jackson compo. Having a teen pick and two likely teen picks next year isn’t the best stock to try and land a top 5 pick. I’ll be surprised if any clubs bite. If we can trade up, I’d hope it’s with North to get us Sheezel. We need forward half weapons and he looks the best of them.

I wouldn’t do this deal if I was Dodoro. 3 picks in the teens for ND4… but let’s hope incompetence and a desire to death rise us and Freo wins out.

No, he wasn't a poor pick he was a F@#%*€G POOR pick, shocking in fact!

I don’t think a skinny frame would prevent him being ready to push his case quickly given his role, so he’d be a fun pick up. 

We have Riv whose form ( mainly due to racing back into the team too early)  took half a season for good form.

Riv Will star in 2023 but another flanker of size is still a good option but this year I would concentrate on forwards who can kick goals especially finishing ones!

Can’t understand why we are persisting to talk about Jimmy Toumpas in this thread. How is he relevant to this?
