That's a pretty weird thing to say given Bucks was his head coach when Grundy signed a 7-year deal on $1m per year.....

Because Collingwood managed the salary cap so well when Bucks was coach.....

Management of the salary cap was not done by the coach but the list manager but his record as a player and coach was good but never won a premiership as either.

His coaching philosophy was trying to emulate Malthouse and failed, McRae just let the players play football.

That's probably why it will succeed. I believe that all AFL onlookers expect that if either Gawny or Brody are not BOG every second week this will be a disaster.

What I want us for our team to improve with both around the ground and help in defence plus get the risk of say 30 goals between  them

With  improvements in forward number of goals greater fitness and return to form  of most 2021 players, plus some player changes all will team together up make a much more hardened team who kicks more goals to place opponents under greater pressure.

remind me again how many premierships Buckley won as a player or coach? Now compare that to Goodwin………..,…….yeah I’ll be sticking with Mr 3 & 0, not Mr 0 & 3.

Sadly for us LJ was supreme at ground level for a ruck man and very mobile for his size. So is Max though not as much as LJ bit he is bigger.

Don't think Brodie has the same skills.

I do hope his body holds up as well.

Lj will be a star ...sadly not for us but will always be remembered fondly as a part of breaking a very long drought. Especially that cameo in the 3rd.

If by chance Bbb....Brodie and Max are all up fwd when the ball comes in...every afl team would struggle covering all that height.

I agree about the struggle for oppos in that scenario, deev. But it would generally be associated with a bombed entry? Not so much the (D'Land-desired) targeted entry? Is it possible to have - and consistently change/execute - two different entry styles for 2-headed beast mode and 1/0-headed beast mode?

Yes I agree - I feel like we tried this in the second half of last year.  As dangerous as Max / BBB and Jacko could be in the air, unless it was from the centre bounce (which wouldn't happen) the best team's team defence could adequately deal with this scenario and once the ball hit the ground had the game on their terms.

With Gawn and Grundy alternating up fwd + Brown Tmac Fritch and Pickett very few slots available for guys like spargo sparrow and even anb. Looks like the bench for them along with Harmes Melks jordan  maybe Hibberd as well.

Yes, spots in the forward 50 will be tightly contested if all those you mention are fit. I believe thats what you meant.

Last year we suffered without TMac and Brown for much of the year and Dogga largely out of form. 

I'll have a stab and predict JvR will play about half the season, as will BBB. Fingers crossed Tmac stays fit, he's looked cherry ripe at training

However, for me it's not that we don't have players inside the 50 who are capable, it's the delivery into 50 that we need to get right. I reckon we could add around 6 goals per game if we improve that connection

LJ may turn into a star, but definitely not in top ten ruckman and being replaced by 2nd best ruckman in comp at present.

In short term Grundy is a better player than LJ. Jackson form was below average last year, especially last half of the season, maybe he was carrying an injury.

Interesting that it Max said he would be playing 70% forward.

Whether that has changed since the meetings we shall soon know.

Max playing forward 70% will be interesting, not sure it will happen though.
