We cannot draft again from WA

Featured Replies

I know its all been on your minds because you are all deep thinking MFC tragics like myself,

Fremantle saw the writing on the wall after Cerra left the year before,

All four picks they had in the 2021 national draft where Western Australian's

Van Rooyen must be the last selection we make from WA ever

We have a storied history with famous Demons players from WA, but times have changed, WA may as well be another country

Time to start drafting our own

I think most clubs are now catching on

Taj Woewodin and Judd McVee were both drafted after JVR.

I don’t think we need to jump at shadows, but it needs to be taken into consideration for sure.

I am probably massively in the minority, but i really love the conceptual idea of a 2 conference comp. 10 Victorian teams play their season and 10 of the rest play their season (maybe with a smaller set of cross conferences matches). Winner of each conference to the national championship game.

Would probably see all the national talent wanting to get to the Vic teams to play on the big stage though.

Atmosphere is just leaps and bounds better for any Vic vs. Vic matchups.

Taj fine, F/S, McVee rookie, fine,

I''ll extrapolate, no one in the top 10 -15 at least.

I think this is a really shallow view and a complete overreaction.

Over.

I'll remember this when WC offer Van Rooyen a grandfather deal at the end of next year...

Couldn’t care less, if we win more Flags.
Just need to make sure These scum WA Clubs pay a fair price…

[Godfather]😉

There should be an option to give facepalm emojies to threads.

And if they gain enough facepalm emojies, the thread is deleted.

*insert facepalm emoji*

Personally I feel we should stop drafting males to our mens team, as that’s the common theme among those who have left.

One thing is sure, the draft system sucks!

Top Draft picks my [censored]!, they are not assets when you can't keep those players for at least 5 years in your team.

I'd rather prefer there was a separate draft for each state.

This year alone

LJ (pick 3) gone home after 3 years.

JHF (pick 1) gone home after 1 year.

Izak Rankine (pick 3) gone home after 4 years.

Taranto (pick 2) gone home after 6 seasons. Not as good as an example as the last 3.

Yes, we must bar access from Western Australia. Actually is there any way we can secede from all the other states so we never have homesick players? You see, our biggest problem is that no-one at any club has ever been homesick other than at our club.

If we ever have a no.1 pick and the best kid is from WA, we should send them a little letter saying that under no circumstances would we draft a snot nosed pencil necked West Australian, because we don't do that at high and mightyville.

So, what you’re essentially saying is that Victorian teams all get to play each other in their own back yard (except for the arduous trip down to Geelong), while the rest on the teams in Conf 2, get the pleasure of traveling back and forward all over the country, playing each other in Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, and Brisbane. Sounds fair.

No worries mate.

I’ll be happy to support your theory when you apply some actual mathematical or scientific logic to it.
Until then, get stuffed. 😎😂

Am I going somewhere? 😳

Isn't a grandfather offer one that would be seriously out of date?

Yeah.. I disagree, it netted us a flag.

I'll take that!

I hope we draft nothing by West Aussies.

A shame to lose Jacko but Freo’s cash came at the exact right time, plus covid and other factors.

Losing Hogan won us a flag.

Plenty of other West Aussies stay on the east coast.

When’s Buddy going home?

Plenty of AFL players change state and stay.

A lot of posters assume they know the situation with Dogga, especially those calling him a "mummy's boy" (which really say more about the poster). He may well have extenuating circumstances we do not know of

We also need to get better at poaching interstate players originally from Vic, though we did bloody well with Lever and Langdon

I'm with those who say this topic is an overreaction

Yes, they are. That's why we got some draft picks in return for him. Like any asset, players are tradeable commodities whose worth rise and fall based on subjective assessments as to value.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
