A bit of love for him on twitter especially from bulldog supporters.

How many years does he have left on his contract and are we taking it over, or doing a new one?

He signed a 4 year deal with the Dogs at the end of 2019 after crossing from St Kilda.

He's an upgrade on the Weid. We might get a year or 2 decent service while JVR is establishing himself. cover for BB and TMac both of home are injury prone as they get older. Granted, we don't know if he'll get back to his 2021 form given his knee injury but this is low cost, best available option play. There's not much downside in my view.

There’s plenty of downside, he’s coming off a serious knee reco, looked like an unfit park footballer when he came back, at his 4th club, 30 years old, has a man bun & the worst Tatts in the AFL

Imagine BBB & Bruce plonking along in straight lines in our already dysfunctional forward line

Beg to differ re Tatts. Libber from the Dogs wins hands down.

So he doesn’t work out. As long as not pay him too much or sign him to a long contract we haven’t risked too much. That’s what I mean by downside.

libbas and castagne from Tiges have worse tatts

I hate myself for saying this a bit.

We lack depth in tall forwards and outside midfielders. Let grab Bruce and Hunter if they are cheap and try and squeeze the most amount of talent we can.

We are in the window. Let's go for it. I don't give a [censored] about his tattoos or hair (yeah, I rewatched Moneyball last night. Great film).

A 30yo and 3rd club with knee issues to play with BB knee issues along with TMac foot issues .. great fit

If we combine them though they’ll make one complete footballer.

We climbed into the window with young players like Jackson, Kozzie, Rivers, Bowey, Sparrow and JJ all being given opportunities. We slipped this year because our older players were supposedly banged up. I want the next generation of young talent that we have at Casey to be given opportunities.

Unless the players we bring in are best 22 and still in their prime, it's a regressive move. I want our success to extend past a short window.

What message is it sending to the young players if we keep topping up with older players with question marks? Young players are impatient. They'll seek opportunities elsewhere if they aren't given a chance.

True mo64 but we are seriously lacking a tall forward and none of our kids apart from JVR fill the bill. I want JVR playing round 1 with Bruce a short term option to provide coverage for TMac and BB we got monstered when we lost both of them this year.

He is not the 1st bloke in the world to have a knee reco

Maybe T-Macs foot is cooked?

Well it is if all you have to do to put him out for most of the season is stand on it

Melb supporters - We need a key forward, player get a key forward.

Melb list managers - We are looking at Josh Bruce

Melb supporters -  Josh Bruce is rubbish, he had a knee injury and is going to to his 4th.  Why are we looking at this bloke

We lost Mitch Brown, and Bruce is an upgrade on him. It’s that’s simple. He might come good and play in a premiership, or he might play a few cameos along the way that help us protect JVR and the like.

Think of him as a coverage player and it makes a lot of sense.

Looked far off it when he returned for the dogs this season

Of course he did . Knee reco in round 21 is going to do that.

I don't hate this.

It's not low cost though, he's apparently on 500k.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
