If prefer not to lose him. He is versatile. I'd like to see him in the ANB role. Tank might need a bit of work but he is better in the air and better much at goal.

The problem is that ANB doesn't have any currency.

You are all mad - Harmes is versatile, is one of the best taggers Ive seen, does wonders for our rotations because he never gets tired. When the chips are down Harmes is often one of the few still trying his gut out.

As I said during the year I was told the club were going to offload 2-3 of our best 25 this trade period.

Hunt and Harmes were two of those players in consideration.

I’d personally like to retain Harmes, but these decisions are clearly being made for the greater good.

I remember someone saying that but had forgotten that it was you, Beetle

Not really an offload but Jackson would make it 3 (if Harmes ends up going as well) from our best 25 (more like best 18 as all 3 rarely played 2nds)

We're seeing some movement, that's for sure

2 years left on a contract is no impediment these days and that trend may well continue if we keep seeing 5+ year contracts

The leverage marker has shifted but a club like ours can use that leverage to our advantage if we continue to recruit well

Dunstan only got a game this year when Viney was out.
He is a Tough nut Dunstan, he deserves a decent crack.
With all these changes it is going to be a very different side.
We got Smashed in 2nd Halves for most of ‘22. The Finals were exactly the Same.

Dunstan and other Casey boys will get a run next year. Bedford and Hunty is why

Yes, Dunstan is very good depth, but he doesn't have the burst or running ability that Harmes does and we need more of that. Dunstan will only get a game if we have injuries.

I do expect a bit of a different side, and I'm excited to see JVR, Howes, Laurie get a crack on top of the potential ins in Grundy, Hunter, maybe we could even have a dip at Bowes if Harmes leaves?

I can see us bringing in a few more younger players this year.

I like Harmes more than many, given he is a mid with versatility.

But his limitations are the reason we struggle - bad decision making, bad kicking.

A lot we don’t yet know, such as whether the club is on board with him leaving, but currently I’m 50/50 on this one at the moment.

Brayshaw was also in consideration however I think the decision to sign him long term comes off the back of the club knowing Jackson was leaving.

The Demons haven’t been this Proactive in years

Proactive indeed, which is to be commended given Goody’s apparent stubbornness to change things up too much. If we do things the same way expecting different results we’re dreaming.

Obviously we’re loading up at another crack at a flag, and that can never be criticised.

Yes, we panicked and overpaid the guy who doesn’t fit in our structure and had guaranteed currency so are now losing 3 best 25 guys who have far less value. I predicted this at the time.

Yes, as soon as we re-signed Brayshaw my thoughts were that we'd organised an in-principle agreement with Freo for Jackson

But as someone else said, to satisfy our needs for Jackson in a trade, Freo need to trade to then get trade value for Jackson

So we might be waiting a while and the Grundy deal might have to wait a while as well

As it stands right now our lowest pick is somewhere in the early to mid 30's and that may not be enough for Grundy (pick 18 - 24?)

That’s the way i see it. Just watched Tim Lamb’s Press Conference. The Club have worked out a strategy. We just have to watch it play out. Bedford wanting out has blindsided them, but nothing has been signed yet

Wow! A Dees supporting best 22 Premiership player possibly leaving, following on from Jayden and Jacko and also Bedford for more opportunities.

Don’t think I have seen this many regulars leaving in one off season.

Something must obviously be amiss !! Agree!

It seems Richmond want him out

its the exact opposite, he wants midfield time.  Richmond came out and said they don't want to lose him when port were looking.  As soon as port told him they were after JHF he pulled out.

Essendon supports saying their 22 would likely get eaten up for points picking up Alywyn davey in the draft, 22 for harmes would be a good get imo

Brayshaw > Harmes + Hunt

Brayshaw is a proven A grader in not one but three field positions. Harmes is barely a proven A grader in one.

For me James Harmes is a first 18 player, he’s not a bottom six player he’s tough hard and can fill a number of roles, he is a good mark and kicks pretty straight. He is fast enough to quell opposition’s top mids, there are no guarantees on anyone we bring in. For mine he is a Keeper. No If’s But’s or Maybes.!!!

When you lose 2 finals on the trot a few players have to go especially if you have some good young players at the VFL level or you lose them as well.

Both Hunt and Harmes are very capable AFL players.

We look like being very active this trade period.

Harmes the permanent tagger is a best 18 player

Harmes the bit half forward, sometimes wingman and occasional midfielder is in our bottom 6

Can see this happening with Harmesy, Premiership player, Dees supporter win/wins allround here won't get the dollars he's after staying with us.

Jordan, Sparrow waiting in the wings for more midfield time, Gus back in the midfield mix, just makes sense.

Bold move we can't just stagnate like we did last year we have to evolve, we have to improve in different areas.

I like the gumption the list management are showing. 👍

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
