Very stiff not to be a Premiership player with the Dees

Goodwin never liked him

There is a few players doing well that we've lost that wouldn't get a game with us, that are going well else-where.

Hunt, Bedford, McInerney, Weideman,....one or two others, that I can't think of.

It shows how deep our list has been in recent years.

weid did nothing at essendon

Solid and reliable player across 2 clubs.

Probably was wasted a lot during his time with us being played primarily as a back pocket towards the latter end with the club, but bought a lot of excitement during 2017 and would have been extremely handy in 2018 falling short of the top 4 due to injury.

Sad news for Jayden. Injury ruined his chance at a flag and launched the career of Bowey. Sliding doors.

Congratulations Jaydn. 172 games is a long and fine career. Always liked him at the dees. So close to having a premiership medallion.

Loved watching him during his dashing heyday of 2016-17 before teams figured him out a bit in 2018.

He was a half decent forward for us in 2019 but for me he played his best footy as a handy lockdown defender for us in 2021-22 following the retirement of Nev. He should be a premiership Demon but footy is a cruel game.

Surprised that he was unable to hold down a spot in the Eagles defence this year.

Love ya Hunty! Good luck in the future.

I look forward to his future kids being in the Townsville Crocs academy and having to choose between them and the Melbourne f/s, and Demonland having a 700-page anxiety attack about it.

By which I mean, he should always be welcome and I hope he is considered a part of the club forever.

He always seemed like a good guy; he was VERY sad to leave the Dees, and I used to love watching him and Lingers on a run down the wing, exchanging handballs and moving the ball FAST.

I see Jayden every day… first thing when I open my front door…

… and now he has Spaz for company…

😝

I really wish Jayden all the best.

Thanks for being a Dee. Go well young man.

No.

Preemptive post to respond to that poster that is going to suggest we bring him out of retirement.

I know right. What sort of halfwit would suggest that!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
