Even if half of that is true they should never use 'The Family Club' moniker again.

Wow. This is very sad but great that it is now in the open. Does this taint Clarko’s legacy and all others involved/who stayed silent: Yze, Viney snr?

Should North be pulling the eject lever?

Very, very sad.

Viney left in 2008 and Yze started in 2014.  Not sure we should even vaugely link them or others to these horrible events.

This is unbelievable. Must be thoroughly investigated by the AFL and heavy sanctions imposed if these details are proved.

Wouldn't be sending my son anywhere near that football club if these allegations are true. Disgraceful behaviour

Horrendous if even partly true.  I’m not sure how anyone would think that those actions are good for any footballer’s career. How was that meant to improve performance?

Wonder if North Melbourne knew this was happening?

This does not paint a great picture for the Hawks as a club and Clarkson as a person, not exactly what you want your marquee signing being associated with

Fagan started in 2008 and left in 2016. Not much of a cross over there

As a woman, reading this article made me sick to my stomach.

Men should NEVER be allowed to make decisions relating to a woman's body or fertility, and nobody has the right to ever tell someone else how to handle their private family matter.

Very disturbing reading.  Lot's of horrible allegations made that unless they are completely fabricated, I just can't see how they can be defended.  Scary thing is this is relatively recent, not something from the 70's or 80's.

It all seems so counterintuitive to think that these young men would perform better if forced to remove themselves from their partners and kids...

If true, it’s horrible and my heart goes out to all who were affected.

Wow that's horrific. I just cannot fathom the stories that I've read To tell a player and there partner to get an abortion is just horrifc and just so wrong.

To change there sims cards in there phones to cut off contact and lose contact with there partners is awful.

I wonder how Sonya Hood fells about reading this and how the indigenous players at nth feel.

If all these allegations are proven true, Clarkson should never be allowed to coach again at any level.

That is absolutely psychopathic behaviour, unbelievable. To be able to carry out those actions like essentially showing up to the player's house to evict their partner without questioning yourself as a human - unfathomable.

Horrible for all partners and players involved. You also have to feel a bit for North - their biggest signing in years and less than a month later this comes out. Wonder how they'll handle it

Just finished the article. I have never read anything like this before regarding a football club, not even close. If 20% of this is true none of the people mentioned should ever work in this sport again.

In the late 90’s I knew a lot of players drafted into AFL clubs. At the first meeting of one player I knew with his new club all the drafted players where asked about their relationship status and told to end their relationships. They were also warned to limit contact with families to one call a week, and to not talk to them about football, or anything that happened at the club, at all. On day one.

Prior to the draft the player welfare manager at my under 18’s club told my family, and any family that would listen, that ‘the worst thing that can happen is that you get drafted’. It was a very confusing thing to hear.

The expectation on young players was insanely all encompassing. Everything I read here, while shocking, also sounds entirely plausible in the context of what I’ve been told.

I'm really struggling with this.

That Clarkson and Fagan, men who are husbands and fathers would even contemplate such inhuman behaviours is rephrensible on so many levels: moral, abuse of power, racism.

It is right up there with the Ess drug saga. Perhaps even worse in that it was deliberate, selective to one racial group and extended to controlling partners and family decisions that affect them for the rest of their lives.

It certainly puts a moral stain on Clarkson's 4 premierships.

People need to calm down they are allegations, until proven people need to be careful with their wording.

Very hard to absorb this. But there shouldn't be a rush to judgement. Such a shame. There better be a coherent response.

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
