No. Our Richo was walking back across the ground back to our camp after speaking with Brisbane officials re the incident. Richardson was on the ground post-interview with the players and was waiting for Richo and intercepted him. 
Not quite as dramatic as you’d like but…. make of this what you will…

I can see why the club does not want any distractions ahead of the finals. But if Mark Robinson in the Herald Sun (below) is correct,  the AFL does not believe any penalty should be imposed for a slur as low as you can get:

It’s far from ideal and the response from the teary Petty naturally sent Melbourne and the AFL into immediate investigative mode and the Lions into immediate apology mode, first on the ground on Friday night and again on Saturday morning via a press release. Zorko is a classic case of white line fever. It is said he is a decent bloke off the field, but on it, and as we’ve all seen, he becomes crazily competitive. Still, hoping someone’s mother dies prompts several questions. 1. Who thinks about saying that to anyone, in any environment? 2. Just because Petty wanted the issue to go no further, why didn’t the AFL punish the Lions captain for conduct unbecoming? 3. Why hasn’t the AFLPA condemned Zorko for his comments? Because if a fan said that to a player via social media, the PA would have kittens. It was appalling from Zorko and there’s no chance he will be captain of the club next year. As for the AFL, they will have their reasons for not punishing him, but they can’t let it go. How can this possibly go unpunished?

IF this is true, the AFL are showing just how gutless they are in not taking action to suspend Zorko - I am certainly not into political correctness in any way, quite the contrary, but this would be a line that just should never be crossed.

Anyway, as far as both clubs are concerned this matter has been resolved.

The comment was definitely NOT ‘l hope your mother dies’. Idk where Robinson got that from. And I’m amazed he can report something (on such a sensitive issue) that’s totally untrue.

Robinson is just making it worse and causing Petty's family more distress.  He should just leave it alone as Harrison requested.

I reckon if one of our players did that they would get a club sanction.

 

I am pleased Petty accepted Zorko’s apology and moved on. There are bigger fish to fry with finals upon us and we don’t need distractions.

What Zorko did or did not say said is absolutely not news worthy in so far as it not racial vilification so is not breach of the related rules. So there is zero justification for going into any detail. Its enough to know Zorko was way out of order and leave it there. 

But Robinson will want to give it oxygen. For one things it distracts from the complete embarrassment his beloved bombers are, and his part in the latest circus. And it all gets stirred into the click bait pot that masquerades as news at the Hun and on 360. 

He'll justify doing so by criticizing the AFLPA and/or AFL and demand some sanction. And he and Whatley will have some pathetic back and forth about it, with 'gerry' landing on let it be. 

The clubs have sorted it between them. 

And Petty wants privacy.

Any chance the Robinson and his cronies can actually respect the wishes of the victim in this sad episode?

There has to be some balance to the reporting of this. The mental wellbeing of players and sledging is a very controversial topic. I think the reporting has to be presented in a more abstract way rather that the specifics of the Petty incident. 

We cannot sweep it under the carpet because there is behavior outside of what Zorko has said, which is still not acceptable and this specific incident is shining a spotlight on it.
