Hatred for Collingwood!

It's not a flaw, it's a strength.  I don't hate therefore I don't suffer.

Hatred is a normal part of human emotions. If you drop your vegemite toast onto the floor in the morning you can always blame a collingwood supporter.

I am in the minority but I like Collingwood. Always have. I don't care about their supporters...sport for me is about one thing...watching the best athletes battling it out desperately for the win

Thank you for bringing some decency to this thread and not contributing to the hate

I’m blaming the Collingwood ferals at the game last Friday for my positive Covid test today.  I’m sure it’s their fault.

Might also be advisable to get a rabies shot  as there has been an outbreak of some sort this week at training.

I had a 'fun' walk over William Barrack Bridge and down into Birrarung after the game.

For most of the walk there was an old codger on his motorised scooter weaving his way around the çrowd until he found a Melbourne supporter. He then rolled up beside them, hit them with a zinger that he obviously thought was hilarious, then scootered off to the next guy in non-Filth colours and did it again.

I was tempted to point out that he was a bit hard to understand cause his falsies weren't in and that he'd be better served focusing on breathing from the oxygen tank he was hooked up to rather than mouthing off to people, but I probably woulda got bashed for picking on an old guy.

There is a reason they are called the Filth.

For me, old synapses are starting to rewire on both sides of the fence.

For most of my footballing life, we and Collingwood have never been good at the same time.

I like the rest of my family were Collingwood until the 1988 Qualifying Final. We definitely had the wood on the bar stards and as a naive 8 year old, I thought this would always be the case. I swapped to the Demons and have never looked back since.

Now that we are both competing for a premiership cup, I definitely understand why George Harris said what he did. When they beat us in the early '00's, they almost did so with a sense of condescenison which in reality wasn't hard to understand.

We were horrible. We knew it. They knew it.

Now, the hatred they have towards us is palpable. I am starting to feel it towards them as well.

See my family seems to have a tradition of spite running through it. My dad was from a family of Carlton fans and being the youngest he bucked the trend and went Pies. Fast forward to the young me and he would have been hoping for me to follow but I bucked it and went Dees. So yeah the only way in my family is to turncoat each other!

Something I resent in my inwardly focussed Melbourne way is how the public always builds up Collingwood being some kind of underdog against us like the last 3 times we've played each other and when they win it's like this feeling of scoring one for the little guy, which is total BS.

For as long as I can remember barring some triumphs in between, the black and white team has always taken the honours over the red and blue team. That's the narrative, the public should now want to see us knock them off their perch.

How’s this…

Basically my entire family barrack for Collingwood. Both parents, and three of my five siblings.

I’m the youngest of six, and the next up from me is my sister. She’s the only girl in the family and wanted to set herself apart from the boys, so she chose the Demons, then got the word into me when I was a kid.

One of my other brothers supports a different team though...

Geelong.

Every time the Pies beat us I can feel all the ties that bind unravel. I see my lovely parents suddenly as toothless and my brothers all look like Joffa.

Thankfully it doesn’t last too long.

Just guessing here, but you two would obviously be smarter than all of them put together.  Keep the faith!

Don't get me started on my hatred of the filth. Twice I have nearly had an altercation with filth supporters. Once at Victoria park and another at the MCG. On both occasions they had won. When I was younger ( teens) I had a couple of filth supporting friends who had reserved seats in the stand behind the goals at Filth Park. Twice they got me to go with them using another friends card who wasn't going. Why I let it happen twice i will never understand but it was a lesson in life. They were playing South Melbourne and I could clearly see the players entrance at half time where the filth supporters were spitting at the south coach. All fun and games at filth park. I questioned my mates about after the match and they thaught it was just ordinary behaviour.

I also think there is a generational gap in the hatred of the filth. Those of us that are over 50 to 55 years of age seem to have a more inbuilt disgust at the filth. Probably a stem from the rivalry of the 50s and 60s which war drummed into us.

I was taught two things love Melbourne and hate Collingwood - my hate for then has waned over the years mainly due to the pity for losing so many GFs and our lack of playing them in big games. Essendon, Hawthorn and West Coast were more hated.

After this year and especially last week they are back to the top of the hate lost, cannot stand them and hate the thought of losing to them.

Anyone who wants an understanding of the psychology of the club should read the book, Kill For Collingwood. It is a history of the club written in the early 80s and really delves into the early history of not just the club but the suburb it grew from. It is understandable why they have such a vile culture.

The worst part is their arrogance when they have only won 4 flags since the 1930s! 4!

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
