Hang on. I thought the AFL wanted Carlton to play finals so would find a way to exonerate Cripps?

If they appeal and lose??

It's not over yet.  Probably will be reduced to 1 week.  And if you are paranoid you might think the AFL will invent a new rule interpretation for when we play Carlton this week.  Like full backs who  kick-out to the left more than twice in a row will incur an immediate penalty.

If the AFL want him to get off just appoint lethal Leigh, Luke Hodge and Jonno Brown to the tribunal

You not playing the 3 dimensional chess that the AFL is playing. MRO suspends and then the Tribunal lets him off. Win Win. We lose of course.

I'd prefer one week, so he misses against us but comes back for Collingwood.

Yep, that would work nicely, mauriesy

Assuming the suspension stands we just got a great break going our way

Cripps not playing is a huge out for them and one less top player that we have to worry about.  He has match winning qualities and is arguably their best player

let’s see if Carlton appeal.

I hope they do.

And I hope they get it down to one week.

Purely because I want them ti beat the pies in round 23 as we might end up needing them to.

That, and it would infuriate pies fans.

Don't do that. Burn down Ikon Park instead

Two of whom were commentating the game and loved it.

Darcy couldn't stop banging on about how it turned the match. He was lauding cripps.

Due to concussion, Ah Chee will miss this week - but he should also miss the next 10 for allowing his face to interfere with Cripps' elbow.

Bit like when Peter caven cravenly headbutted poor Tony locketts elbow

I think Cripps is a little unlucky and I always err on the side of suspending players for bumps.

In this case it was more clumsy than malicious, but as we know the AFL are all about outcomes.

For the record, all intentional punches, bumps (to the head) and strikes no matter how minor should be a suspension as it is the only way to remove it from the game.

This is the correct call. He has time to assess what he's doing and then does it crudely.

it's not as egregious as an off the ball bump or an intentional strike, which is why 2 weeks feels totally fine. But it's the right call.

Had Ah Chee not gotten concussed that I highly doubt he gets suspended. It really was just a clumsy bump was orchestrated well in terms of technique.

Reckon it'll get downgraded to 1 week.

This is the issue with the penalty being so contingent on the outcome. It would be a travesty if Petracca or Oliver miss a grand final for such an incident where a player gets accidently concussed.

My view is that Cripps left the ground to contest the ball but was late and braced and bumped Ah Chee. I am not saying Cripps was blameless but IMO some of the intentional punching to the body is more worthy of suspension.

It is not over yet. Just wait for the appeals.

Best possibly result. Want him back for the Pies game.

It was a reckless and dangerous attack on the player who was concussed.

The AFL should appeal to increase the penalty.

I didn't think it was worth a suspension

Did you think Chandler's legal tackle, until a concussion resulted, deserved his two?

Did you think ANB's sling deserved 4 in a 17 week season?

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
