It wasn't biased 'norm'...they outplayed as comprehensively in the 2nd half.

Collingwood were just far superior. They converted their opportunities, and were making the most of their inside 50’s. We don’t do that. We haven’t got a long time - years. It’s frustrating to watch us. I usually go have a shower in the last quarter expecting to check the scores and see we’ve dropped another one.

the crowds behind them, the umpires with with them the commentators go along for the ride. Not too many complaints from them on the umpiring, even though they are watching the same games as us.

My favorite BTism of the night was when Tracc delivered lace out to BBB on the boundary while positioned at about CHF.

All BT could go on about was how effectively Pendlebury was manning the mark and how him asking the umpire if Tracc had played on had affected Tracc’s kick.

Let me repeat that it was Tracc who delivered a centimetre perfect kick to BBB when any other kick, if over cooked, would have gone out of bounds on the full.

But the real highlight was Pendles for asking if Tracc had played on.

Sterling stuff indeed. 🙄

The commentary at the ground was pretty ordinary too. Holding the ball is the most misunderstood rule in any sport.

That's because of the inconsistent umpiring of the rule.
JJs was a shocker for eg.

I find I am far less stressed out losing while live at the game vs watching at tv. I put this 💯 on the commentators. It’s disgusting.

I always put that down to the fact that you get a much better feeling for the game when you are at the ground as opposed to watching on the telly.  Certainly see much more of it.

We were the buzz team last year. Collingwood are the buzz team now. They have large supporter base. TV commentators are jumping on them to appeal to that mass supporter base. Although I am not too sure what time lights are out at Port Phillip Prison.

It really was. horrible decision. Nothing said about it on the commentary either.

That would have interfered with the pro Pies narrative. Can't have that.

Johnson throw in the last. Genuine up and under scoop … which is a throw. I think BT called it and was aghast that others thought it was ok.

Johnson’s mark over the line … the bobble  Brayshaw seemed to be ignoring the small fact that it was controlled only after across the line (as did the bunker)

Pendles and Lipinski could cold holding the ball Not even a “well well well” after Viney got pinged 2 minutes earlier

Hodge seemed to be auditioning for a Pies assistant coach role such was his over enthusiastic celebration at every Pies goal

It’s all spin and spin for feral Pies supporters to salivate over but it’s sickening for the opposition supporters

7 and the AFL want Collingwood high up the ladder as it means $$$$$$$$$$$$$

I must admit that it is more enjoyable watching the game live than listening to the dumbed down TV commentary teams.

Collingwood have a lot of hype around them right now, commentating, umpiring and social media is case in point

And just throw Carlton into that mix. What a quagmire.

No wonder Fox wants to replace 7’s commentary with its own.

They are worse. Any Vic team playing an interstate team at the G or Marvel on Fox is basically Press Red for Ed.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
