Unfortunately I’m working so can’t go, should be a big crowd though, Trac will be happy. 😜

Fair to say I’m nervous about this one, the Pies match up well against us and we tend to let one or two of their players have a day out against us. It’s a huge game for us, if we back up our Freo win with another good win here it’s going to hopefully launch our finals run and, fingers crossed, we do what we did last year. When it comes down to it, if we play near our best we will win, I just hope our players turn up. 🤞🏻🔴🔵

I'm slowly getting a little nervous, if it was any other team I'd be fully confident but the pies seem to always hand it to us.

I also reckon their supporters are going to drown us out... and I'm dreading the "Coooollinnngwoooood"...

Their quick ball movement can be overwhelming when they get on a roll, hopefully with our settled defence we can somewhat take that out of their game. I feel like the dockers didn't challenge at all with their ball movement playing into our hands whereas I think the pies will go into the game with a "nothing to lose" attitude and take the game on with risk.

Feeling the creep of nerves this morning... waiting for my flight to Melb to take off.  I'll spend all day working alongside a Pies supporter which will only exacerbate things!

Hoping we can back up Lingers' words and show some proper Melbourne style footy!

We'll be up for this. No doubt about that

Bring the same  heat and intensity that we did against the Freo and the pies have no chance

Time to put these upstarts in their place

On another note: does anyone have any clever tips for parking at the G? Normally, we train it in from Bala’ but want to make a quicker getaway tonight with the kids. Any ideas?

Surely the pies at $3.12 would have the be the longest odds of any team on a 10 game winning streak.

Park in a carpark on Flinders st. Tram or walk from there. That's the quickest way out. The car park is closed for 20 minutes after the game at the MCG. You'll be in your car and away before the MCG car park opens let alone get out of it

Methinks a quicker getaway would be to NOT park at the ‘G. Perhaps you could park at a train station (eg: North Melbourne) and from there it’s a relatively short train ride to the ground.

“Upstarts” -  Can’t  think of a more fitting description. Well I can, only every second word would be censored.

We’ll get the job done tonight and we’ll revel in their misery. 🍻

GO THE MIGHTY DEMONS!!!

I tend to park in a side street on the east side of Punt Road and north of Bridge Road. 20 minute walk to the ground. Plenty of alternative escape routes that avoid Punt Road traffic

My work hours vary each day depending on the job, so I’ve taken today off just to be sure I’m hone in time….

Big day has arrived. I’m very confident today, probably more confident than I have been for any game this season. Think we will see big Max back to his pre injury form.
Think our midfield will go to another level and we win by over 5 goals.
Let’s smash these one trick ponies.

And hey, should we lose tonight (except we won’t), but if we do, let’s all NOT point the finger at Ed. To suggest that the outcome of a match can be even partly attributed to the pregame words of one player is foolish.

Our loss to them had 4 key talls out or injured.  Made Mr USA look like Mr Universe.  Not tonight, baby!  System system system. Lets show them what a premiership team looks like…

Mihocek is a big in for them, as he always plays well against us.

It’s funny that on Sportsbet now we’re shorter fave to beat Collingwood, 3rd on the ladder ($1.36) than Carltank next week ($1.39). There’s a lot of money very confident in the Dees tonight.

Forthwith, Ed will now be referred to as either "Colourful Melbourne Identity, Mr. Ed Langdon", or "Outspoken former Dockers player Langdon". After winning this years Norm Smith, references will be made to "F^&*ing Deez Legend, Langers".

He hardly had a touch last time until Turner got injured and we lost Petty for a large slab of time late in the second quarter. He should get more attention tonight.

  • GAMEDAY: Essendon

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.
