Possibly, but I also know he wasn't super keen on moving the family while still at school.

Wherever he goes he will be successful anyway I reckon. (I'd just hate it to be at Essendon)

If he wasn't super keen then why did he apply for the job in the first place??

Confused that would be he's thought process considering he was a bees knees from getting the Adelaide job few years back until he was beaten by Matthew Nicks.

Jasmine Yze who is his daughter is currently at University and have could easily lived on campus while Noah is now in the back end of high school.

Would have thought now would be the perfect opportunity.

Disappointed for Ooze that he's missed out on this.

Could it just have been that GWS thought Kingsley was the better fit and hired him?

This despite all the 'good sources'

Crazy I know

I might message ya mate as some stuff I don't wanna post here, but as far as I know he's very very keen to be a senior coach so the GWS job was an option and moving the family was on the table - After that I haven't heard what changed which is what makes me wonder about Essendon.

The only option left isn’t going to do him any favours. Based on yesterday’s performance that board is headed up by Football’s Monty Burns.

Only a very few people could touch Essendrug right now. Similar to the MFC after Neeld

Yze would be very ill advised to walk into that infected trap

Don't get me wrong. He shouldn't go to Essendon, its a basket case. Not even Clarkson could succeed there. But i reckon GWS would have been a good fit, out of the limelight he could have put in place his ideas without the media glare

No YZE to GWS; rejected because they thought he was taking the [censored] of their three-letter-acronym name.

Essendon will presumably both recruit and reject him on the same day, with different members of the executive signing different documents, and then they will have to pay him out for a three year contract.

If Port decide to replace Hinkley, they will insist on it being someone who respects and is keen to work with David Koch. So, after a long search, the only acceptable candidate be David Koch.

Personally I still think Yze will succeed Goodwin, possibly as soon as 2025.

Yes I agree. But that vacancy is now unavailable.

Half of their Board want Hird.
They are in a world of self inflicted pain

Fate. Could be the next Melbourne coach, who knows?

I'd be hoping he takes a look at Essendon and realises it's a tire fire off field and that there's likely going to be better opportunities in store for him with friendlier boards next time round.

On the flip side I hope this knocks off the first 2 or 3 candidates and they end up with someone who never thought they were going to get a shot at senior coaching.

From The Age:

"Sources said Melbourne assistant coach Adem Yze was slightly ahead in the Giants thinking until final presentations last week, when Kingsley turned their heads with an impressive final display. A Giants source said Kingsley continued to impress them more each time they met with him".

I think there will be one or two more coaching positions that open up this year other than Essendon that might be a better fit for Adem.

Would not be surprised if he ended up as coach of the Bulldogs either this year or next.

If the Bombers take a coach for another club there will be another chance for him.

You'd hope not, but they have a serviceable list, so with a good system and coaching they could challenge for top 8 next year.

I suspect that they would try to lure Ross Lyon or Leon Cameron as Bucks has emphatically said he would not coach them. Has worked with Sheeds in the past. I suspect Sheeds will get one a more permanent coaching presence, similar to Choco's role for us. Dont know what it means for the rest of the coaching staff though.

I think the new Essendon President is on record stating they are after an experienced senior coach, so I don't think Yze would be looked at.

Jokes aside, I think Yze to Port might be the best option at some point next year. Although I can see Koch backing Hinkley for another half decade with a 5th-8th ladder position finals berth next year.

On the Couch talking about how Essendon will have to reassure any coach who will enter into their process, as the assumption is that Hird will get the job since half the board want him.

They are unbelievable. It would be funny if it wasn’t so sad.

I reckon Essendon might as well bring Hird back as senior coach and then restructure the rest of the organisation.  They will struggle to attract other experienced senior coaches and he will get them playing some good football similar to what Voss is doing at Carlton.

Feel for Ooze, he deserves a crack at a senior gig, Kingsley is a great appointment, and i reckon he'll do a really strong job for GWS, but feel for yze, though stoked to hang onto him for now

Essendon are off their absolute heads if he's not one of their first calls. there is absolutely no rational, fact based basis for thinking James Hird is a better senior coaching prospect than Adem Yze, or about 50 other blokes to be honest.

Voss has real experience. The win/loss record that James Hird built up was under the influence of Juice

He hasn’t coached in 7 years

Hird isn't an experienced coach but they may see him as one ...

Barham backed himself into a corner by listing the want for an ‘experienced’ coach as justification for the truck sacking. If you’re ever having a bad day, just remember it could be worse, you could be an essendon supporter. They’re being run like a 3rd world country.

What are the bombers options? Ross Lyon, Leon Cameron, James Hird, Nathan Buckley….. then the dinosaurs.  Lyon and Buckley look pretty happy in their media roles.

it really is beautiful to watch though 😂

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
