Is this the infamous pre season crows camp?

Yes. It’s sound like it was horror show.

Sometimes journos are dead on; and Sam and Caro got a lot of personal crap for their reporting on this.

Maybe don’t run toxic and stupid camps that can be politely referred to as ‘weird’…

surprised they haven’t been sued yet

That was my first thought.

This is way worse than I remember reading at the time. That’s some Waco sh*it right there.

And we nearly did the same.

Did we...I know we didn't do a repeat of a previous camp as players weren't too keen but was it the same as this one?

I didn't think so.

I'm hit and miss with Sam at times.

Caro on the other hand is one of the best journo's going around, and I say that without hesitation.

They've had a rep of doing stuff like that at the Crows. I remember 20 or show years ago that Nigel Smart was walking across burning hot coals.

I wouldn’t disagree and I know Sam quite well.

What disappoints me is that I know there are people that would read all that and be like ‘so what, mate. Suck it up, it’s not like they hit you.’

They were disrespectful to his culture, betrayed his confidences in front of his colleagues, berated him, and his club thanked him for leading and standing up for his brethren by demoting him and pushing him out the club.

What a culture.

And not to say how great are we but we were close to going down this path and instead went down the path of embracing uniqueness, respect, and having trust in your teammates to let them be if they do the work.

I’ll take our PC woke culture any day of the week and twice on the last Saturday in September…

Making Don Pyke lose his mind and walk around silently eyeballing players is one of the great, underrated MFC highlights.

Oh that was bloody brilliant, which game was that again? Was that the 100 point drubbing in Alice Springs?

Standing in a circle yelling obscenities at each other not having washed for days.

I've sat in the Collingwood cheer squad before, they've been using this technique for decades.

Mythbusters covered firewalking in one episode and the secret is to walk quickly and softly over the coals.

As the above clip shows, Notso Smart burnt his feet by stomping heavily through the embers.

This "team building culture forming" psycho babble  gets sold ( in various forms) to organisations all the time - even in these "enlightened" times.

I'm [censored] if I can understand how people still fall for it.

The problem is, some of it is not psycho babble. But then a group of profit sniffing wankers will jump on board and develop a "world first training programme" that is cutting edge. I'm a big fan of what the Pacific Institute do with their development style. Nick Saban has been using the philosophies and development techniques  with them for years and amongst other things has kept Alabama College football team at the top for 20+ yrs.

Meanwhile “Tex” from Broken Hill writes…

“The camp that we went on as a footy club, personally I found one of the most beneficial and rewarding camps I've ever been on as an individual.

"And I encourage any of my mates or family members to do the same thing”

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.
