Does ready to go mean they are in the team ? Didn't catch the interview with Goody. I'd be happy with BBB in for weid and leave the rest of team as is. I think hunt is our best matchup for ginnivan.

Above that it states two demons will return to the side on Friday night BM. I’m reading it as Harmesy and Brown are in.

We need to put those do gooders in their place. Most despised team by a fair way. For the next 48 hours I will smash anything that is black and white into a million pieces.

Are you referring to the marriage or the premiership?

They have beaten us the last two times. One of only 7 clubs to beat us the last two seasons. And the only club besides the Bulldogs to beat us in both years.

Of course they are going to prefer to play us.

The only team we haven't beaten these two years.

Anybody worried about the heavy strapping on both of Lever's ankles?

There's a reason he's not in AA calculation this year, Andy. He doesn't have the same mobility IMV, but Lever at 90-95% could still help us win back to back.

With Harmes back that makes Melksham as sub?

Will be interesting to see. Make sense either him or Hunt , I guess. I think both offer something that harmes can't and we have enough of what harmes brings to the team. Having said that harmes has been a good contributor over a long period so I'll back in the selection committee

Not super confident about this one the Pies always give us loads of trouble - I think it will be close not a smashing either way

Think it’s the ongoing impact from the bad rolled ankle recently. The week off before finals will do our players a world of good. Guys like Gawn, Brown, Lever, Clarry, Petty have all missed matches and played under duress in the second half of this year. A week for them to freshen up and heal further should have us in good knick to give finals a red hot crack at closer to full strength.

Brown in for Weid is a given if he’s fit.

Not sure who Harmes comes in for. The team balance was better last week with Hunt in the backline and Gus up into the middle. I’d want to avoid reverting to the previous structure as it didn’t work as well for us IMO. Harmes in for Melksham and spending time forward in a more defensive role and trying to snag a few himself?

Watching Goodwin's press conference, he hesitated when discussing where Harmes will play. He might just not want to give up too much in a press conference, but my read on it is I think Harmes will play VFL this week.

That was my take. He was definitive about BBB playing, but said that Harmes is ready to go. I took that to mean that Harmes was available, rather than being in the team. But there's no VFL game for Casey.

If Harmes comes in, I think it will be for ANB.

He might have if the VFL team didn't have a bye

I feel like we should end up with a comfortable 5 goal win but not as confident as I was for last week's game. Cautiously optimistic.

Sub?

Posted (edited)

My thoughts BB in for Weids (JVR only if BB doesn't come up). Harmes in as sub.

Also think Brayshaw stays as mid for rest of year if he plays to same level as last week. Our midfield becomes stronger and it allows for Hunt or Bowie to stay in the team. Harmes becomes regular sub or replacement for Melk should his form drop.

I don't understand why we don't have Tomlinson as a sub every game. I get the injection of pace like a Chandler or Bedford, but talls are vital to our structure and game style, so having someone that has the capacity to play tall back, forward, wing or ruck seems like the ideal sub.

But you may be right, mate. Harmes could well be sub.

Just because Goody said Harnes is fit to go doesn't means he comes straight back in.

Goodly mentioned last week that they'll continue to play Brayshaw in the midfield as it's a set up they've been meaning to trial for a number of weeks, but a spot had not opened for Brayshaw.

The move was a great success for both Brayshaw and Hunt which means right at this minute there is no room for Harmes to slot back in it seems.

They would hardly say Harmes in if he’s sitting on the bench for likely 4 quarters as sub

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
