Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Rather than a big 40+ point win next week. Do we run with a couple of point win, to prove that not only can the filfth be beaten, but they are not the masters of the close games?

Nah stuff that, [censored] bury them

So Dogga and Harry P were assigned to mascot duty, ie, hold hands with a little kid while going through the banner. As the pic below shows, Harry had his mascot, but Dogga forgot his and didn’t even realise he’d done so! Nibbler saw this so stepped in and took Dogga’s mascot through.
The mother in me says, Awww Nibs, you’re the best! But the Demonlander in me says, Hmmmm Dogga’s mind is elsewhere, huh! 🤨

Fremantle didn't try to move the ball quickly which suits our game style.   I hope that's not the reason we won because other teams like Collingwood next week will move the ball quickly.

St Kilda like to move the ball quickly off half back too and were in the top 4 or 6 when we played them. We completely shut them down.

When we're on, our system doesn't allow quick ball movement. It strangles teams. Just as it did Freo. Have you been watching for the last 18 months?

Defensive setup, and how quick we were to roll the zone across the ground or backwards last night, actually reminded me of what we did to St.Kilda earlier in the year.

Has anyone in the media heard of Petty? Cant recall his name being mentioned. Its always trac olie brayshaw viney.

We're not the same side without him.

We also look tougher and meaner with Hibberd back .

Jono Brown gave him a slight pump up post match, saying he was underrated.

The three losses in a row that came earlier in the year happened when Petty was off the ground for extended periods of time. During this time, the opposition got run ons.

And I reckon the two loses include the one where May came off concussed against the Pies.

He was concussed against Freo, but Petty was also off for the third quarter against Freo, Sydney and Collingwood where the opposition tlals got ahold of us all of a sudden.

Had him in my votes this week, feel I've neglected him and what he brings to our team long enough. Gun.

A thumbs down to the Shockers retro guernsey too. The ‘MacPaint anchor’ strip is up there as one of the worst alternative strips in AFL history (along with Hawthorn’s jockey strip royal blue with brown and gold diamonds from ‘93 preseason, their Power Ranger jumper, North’s horrible orange jumper and our Bali knockoff strip from 2017).

I also have bad memories of it because the last time we played a Fremantle team wearing that jumper, Tony Modra kicked 10 and we lost by 9 goals.

I like green being incorporated into their guernseys but they need to ditch the anchor logo. Mint green would be more contemporary and would look good combined with purple and white.

So proud of this effort last night. Down Fitzroy St in St Kilda with the scarf on and just revelling in the glory of that win.

The boys were switched on right from the start with the pressure and even though the scoring didn't come immediately, we didn't stop bringing it until we got some scores on the board.

However not only did we bring the pressure on the ball carrier, our defensive structure was suffocating. We were back to the spreading quickly and marking space, there was no-where for these Freo jokers to go at all. All this talk of picking and choosing when to go really got to these guys and they responded like a reigning premier does.

Jack Viney played off his chops, I said it against Brisbane but this guy could play in a pinball machine right now and still come up with the ball. Love the way he's accelerating out of contests at the moment. Oliver had the hard tag by Aish. You need to be careful as a coach when you do these things, last year Harmes on Libba worked the first time but not so much the next time but he did do a very good job again. He didn't count on Petracca the bull tearing them a new A. I underestimated Petracca's game and thought he butchered it a lot but he ran at 86% efficiency. Would have loved him to dob that set shot though. Gus played like he was stoked to have the contract stuff done, I loved his game and it also didn't get enough credit. Langdon provided great width and I loved the way he took his set shot. Loved Sparrow's efforts, he knows exactly when to hit with a line breaking run.

Our backline was great, Petty absolutely the pick of the bunch. This guy is a defensive stud and don't underestimate his toughness. Speaking of toughness, two ankle bungers for Lever and he still made it back out there. Hope that ankle is OK because it did seem like he couldn't jump much on the Logue goal. Positive step forward for Salo

Sam Weideman, I loved the one time you got off the chain from Pearce but this kind of game will not cut it. Caught under the ball at least 5 times from my count. I'll back him in every time he's selected but I simply need to see more physical presence. He is a massive liability right now. Thought it was one of Fritsch's better games for the year, he always chose the best option whether that was a shot or pass. Small forwards amazing Kozzie, Spargo, ANB was a little down but they don't all need to be brilliant at the same time.

I'm clearly rushing this because I'm getting an evil eye but I'm so stoked with this win. If there were nerves this week then next week will be bedlam. Enjoy the say my folks, it's been a week that has ended well 😀

I give this post top marks for the grouse Aussie idiomatic prose. Dob, bung, off chops. It had it all!

Geez the Docker supporters quit pretty quickly. Not just the score but the rain made their minds up I'm sure. Midway thru the 3rd, and especially the last, it was just a skeleton crowd. Our proud cheer squad were very good and loud. Well done guys and gals.

Maybe a $1000 fine coming up for supporter equipment abuse?

That should be overlooked and concentrate on a couple of morons throwing items over the fence. How good was security I wonder?  I saw who it was clearly so I hope the law will come down heavy on him. Being a new ground I expect their security to be as good, if not better, than the MCG. The "G" can pinpoint people in an instance.

Impossible to get a word in with all the booing. They have learned well from the Eagles.

They really took it to a new level last night. Not generally the Docker supporters boo teams. Full of expectations this year may have got them to adopt the W.A. druggies method of intimidating umpire decisions. On that point I felt the umpiring was not too bad last night. #22  Nathan Williamson who has not been kind to us in the past got a pass mark from me. Hope he has learnt the errors of his ways umpiring our games in the past.

This season he has gone from the Dees being guaranteed to go undefeated to missing the Top 4 to still a chance to missing the Top 4 again to keeping the faith. If we lose next week his head might explode.

Didn't he say we could miss the finals after our loss to the pies?

Jesus wept.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
