Grundy was very impressed by the MFC presentation this week according to Sam Edmond on SEN.

But ….. was the feeling mutual??

Neither Grundy or Gawn is worth their place as a KPF for 80% match time while the other is rucking.

What we need is for LJ is a first round draft pick to get a 196+ forward with a wide frame so that he can add kgs and strength.

... and damage to opponents' bodies! What we really need, with JVR on the immediate future functions up forward, is more mongrel - big hearted, big bodied, big experience. Grundy could well do much of this, as a side-line to his real task. A better footballer than the Yank with a mission at cross-purposes.

While you make a good point about the money side Luci, but it’s taking on a 5 year contract thats the real turn off for me. Having him for 2 or 3 years would not be so bad, but 5? when he is already 29 and under an injury cloud?
I think we’d be better off with a young up and coming ruck, who we can develop, rather than having 2 ageing ruckmen who may not compliment each other as well as we might currently think.

I have a question for you Neil:

Should we get Grundy for 5 yrs on $700 per year and he plays a significant role in 1 or 2 more flags, would it be worth it?

Many doggies supporters I know rave about the recruitment of Tom Boyd from GWS because of his performance in the 2016 GF. He was on $1mill pa

I'm less concerned about the Grundy contract (though I trust our FD to not f it up) and more worried about his injuries and our ability to fix them

We are in the window for about the next 3 years. I want at least 2 more flags in this time.

Let Jason Taylor find another young gun.

I have the feeling we've seen the best of Grundy.

Haven’t seen it posted anywhere bout Jason Taylor recruited Grundy, and he has been clear on the fact that he follows picks, I think he would have some very good insights into what Grundy offers that we might not be privy too. On the flip side, I am deeply suspicious of Grundy’s injury, we should get Richmond to proof him..

So on Monday David King had is top 10 rated players in finals over the last 5 years....I don't really rate his (Champion Data) ratings but for what it's worth Trac was 4, Clarry 5 &  Grundy 6...

Seems that Grundy might just have something to offer.

edit: they had tp have played at least 5 finals. Of course Dusty was at 1.

I doubt Grundy would go back to SA.  He likes the Melbourne 'hipster' life too much.  Possibly why he may not go to Geelong.  That leaves Dees and Hawks.  Hawks can more easily accommodate his $ and Coll trade requirements, given the picks currently known.

Edit:  Just read this:  "Port Adelaide is out of the running for Brodie Grundy, with the star Magpie telling the club he isn’t interested in making the move to South Australia..Grundy spoke to Port via Zoom over a month ago — and hadn’t met with coach Ken Hinkley — and it was quickly ascertained he wanted to stay in Victoria and had no interest in returning to SA...

It leaves Melbourne as the frontrunner for the dual All-Australian’s services slightly ahead of Geelong, and while the 28-year old could yet stay at Collingwood, he’s heavily pursuing his options.

The report also states he’s determined to re-establish himself as one of the top ruckmen in the competition next season after struggling to get back to his previous best form of years’ past including having his 2022 ruined by injury. Hawthorn and GWS have also been linked to the big man." on Fox Footy.

Can't see Geelong being prepared to give up a high draft pick for Grundy. They must be desperate to inject some more youth into their list

Does that mean that if they can fit Grundy in, he would be one of the youngest on their list?

It won't be long before Dan Andrews announces funding for a new aged care facility to house these guys.

It's rotten how much state Government funding Geelong Football Club receives for a city of 250k people while Melbourne, as the oldest football club in the world, is still trying to establish our home base in Melbourne.  If an announcement is not made as part of the election campaign this year our club needs to pursue all legal options to make sure we get our home.

While I'd prefer De Koning, I can certainly see the benefit in Grundy while we're trying to win flags in the immediate term.

Dees send Jackson & Pick 53 to Fremantle and Pick 35 to Filth.

Freo send Pick 14 to us and future 1st Round Pick to Filth.

Filth send Grundy and Pick 48 to us.

Melbourne lose Jackson, Pick 35 & 53 but gain Grundy, Pick 14 & Pick 48.

Fremantle lose Pick 14 & Future 1st Round Pick but gain Jackson & Pick 53.

Filth lose Grundy and Pick 48 but gain Pick 35 & Future 1st Round Pick.

There's no situation where Collingwood should gain a first round pick for a cap dump

That's a horrible deal for us and the Pies make out like bandits. People need to wake up to the fact that the Pies need Grundy off their books if they want to keep DeGoey and get their trade targets.

His contract at the Pies is a noose around their neck. Why are we not only assisting them in acquiring players, we're giving them a 1st round pick as well?

Except we're not giving them a 1st Round Pick in that instance, Fremantle are. All we do with them is swap our Pick 35 with their Pick 48.

Ok. So you borrow $10k from the bank and give it away to charity. You didn't give the money to charity, the bank did.

It's called net gain v net loss genius. Something Richo and before him Mahoney talked about all the time during trade period.

We get Grundy for Jackson. Taking into account Jacksons upside and being younger then Grundy (Grundy being an AA ruck at his best). Our Pick 35 turns into 14 and Pick 53 turns into 48. Other picks could also be swaped.

Filth shouldn't get a 1st Round Pick for Grundy as a salary dump I hear you say? So why did they get Pick 14 for Treloar back in 2020 as a salary dump?

The one team in my scenario that comes out ahead is potentially Freo with Jackson and Pick 53 for Pick 14 and a future first round pick. Which is why other pick swaps can potentially occur.

I don't want to lose Jackson anymore than the next supporter. But unlike some on here @mo64 it doesn't make me oblivious to other players values on the market and what history tells us occurs in these deals.

They received pick 14 for the Treloar because the dogs literally didn't need it, as it would have gotten chewed up in the JUH bid

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
