Getting the OK to pay it as $400k per year for 4 makes it easy. Totally wrong for HQ to allow though.

Jeelong should honour the contract as it is. That’s what makes me f$&@ mad about this scam

Would we look at Brayden George for a pick in the 20's?

Just done an ACL, but a very talented player who kicked 11 goals in his first two NAB games this year.

185 cms and big bodied and compared to Tracc.

Let him have 2023 to rehabilitate and could have a very good medium forward.

Jeelong should not be in a position to be able to pay that money for a nobody player with their current list.
It cannot be above board.

Nobody will question it though, with the guy running the show down there being the ex AFL Operations Manager. They are kissed on the pecker down there and it [censored] me to tears. Great facilities all paid for externally, the Geelong Falcons as a quasi feeder team for ex players. The only Victorian club with a true home ground advantage. Even the [censored] Spirit of Tasmania leaves from there now.

The game ceased being a sport years ago and is a business and like so many businesses, there is corruption.

That said I was pushing for us to try and get him.

Fully understand, but the Clubs have to come down hard on this ruling

It is absurd that Jeelong can just say “Thanks, we’ll take that” after winning the Flag a month earlier

I assume/hope we're pushing for North's 2023 2nd round pick, traded to Fremantle for Logue, as the icing on top of the Jackson deal.

If we can get our hands on it, I think we'll try to trade it + Bedford for pick 15, held by GWS. Giants would be one of the teams more likely to push picks back given how many they'll have (picks 18 & 19 may also come under consideration).

Bedford + 2023 2nd rounder tied to North (pick ~20) for pick 15 would value Bedford @ pick 56 - slight unders, but that's the cost of trading forward

You cannot change Rules Mid Trading Season. That is not on

The AFL would have no issue with changing the rules mid draft, especially if it helps Geelong 😂

This is 100% right.

Smoothing = cheating the salary cap. The only way a dump should be allowed is if the clubs split the pay to make up the full contract or the destination club takes on the full contract as is.

With Mitch Brown retired, Weid on the way out, JVR unproven, Ben Brown about to turn 30 and horribly out of form, Dogga leaving (OK he sucked as a forward but still).... and TMac's foot being no sure thing.... we really need to find a key forward insurance policy in the next few days. Surely we're not putting all our eggs in the Gawn basket.

Maybe the FD have faith that Disco is able to come in and play Petty’s role, allowing Petts to move up forward and partner with JVR?

I got reliable info over the weekend that Lachie Hunter will be a demon next year with the doggies paying up to $200k of his salary.

Time will tell

With Hunt and Weideman going I wondered who the top of the list whipping boy would be.

Reading the first few pages of this thread we have the answer!

2 for the price of 1.

outs

1. Confirmed : Hunt - free agent to West Coast

2. Sure bet: Jackson - trade to Freo or WCE

3. Nearly there: Bedford - trade to GWS for likely 3rd round pick

4. Possibly: Tomlinson to the Dogs, Weideman to the Bombers

5. Fire put out - Harmes to the Bombers

ins

1. Grundy - definitely be a Demon in 2023 (strange but true)  … debating draft picks

2. Smoke : Josh Bruce, Lachie Hunter

Heard the same (without the salary part though), which is why I wondered if that could be the Tomlinson move potentially.

Hunter would be a nice addition, compliments our midfield group nicely.

Doesn't have the speed although he's an elite endurance runner but has great composure and use by hand and foot which is the main thing IMO. Hits great kicks that open up play and his release handballs are fantastic.

Could be a solid opposite wing to Langdon.

I agree with this. Have heard he is a bit of a f l o g though, that's my only concern.

Will be interesting to see how he falls into line with a game plan that isn't all out attack.

Hopefully we can find some ways to utilise his skillset

Has the Hunter become the hunted?  I thought we didn't value the Hunt.

If you judge it as an entire wingers club and average it out with the amazing bloke that is Lingers then we have two decent blokes on the wings..

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
