Seriously what is up with this guy?

I’ve never seen a 200cm forward other than Ben take as many two grab marks in my life, he doesn’t have soft hands at all, he could be an amazing player if he let the ball sink into his hands instead of trying to volleyball spike it every time he goes for a mark. And he is constantly outbodied unless the ball is lace out to him….. frustrating to say the least!

He needs a clear run and jump at the ball. The slightest body contact throws him off…………….but he is the best KPF we have at the moment.

He did alright in the finals and GF as I recall despite being so so early in the season last year. He’s here for the duration this season.

He will play some solid footy. Yes it’s frustrating, but he wasn’t far off having a big day yesterday.
There was one clear mark, the umpire didn’t pay.
But we all know how corrupt yesterday’s umpiring was

He was good yesterday, constantly got hands to it in packs and outnumbered contests (his vertical reach in these cases is vital) and got his pair of goals, all of which would’ve pleased Goody. Not easy being the only real tall in the forward line currently, and wearing the best of the oppo’s defence, mostly in spoiling pairs.

When?

3 months of very ordinary footy this year & why does he get the luxury of continual games when others don’t?

Simply that TMac is recovering from Surgery and the Weid is not a key forward

I like the guy, but he was attrocious yesterday, and the previous round/s.

Doesn't bust a gut to get to contests, and when he does he just sticks an arm out lamely.

Sadly not many (if any) other options.

I hear the concerns. He's down on confidence a bit but if he's chipping in with his goals then I feel he's still worth having. Would love him to clunk a few more marks.

It's hard to get him on leads at the moment but I'm confident he'll get his chances. Have faith!

I still think he will play well in September….

Brown of the Jonathan variety would struggle in our forward line with our delivery and game style. Fritter is struggling to have an impact most weeks

6 goals 7 in the last three matches - 13 scoring shots isn’t too bad when he’s been double teamed for most contests

in comparison fritta has 5.3 and kozzie 4.0

Brown is either out of form or cooked.

We need Brown to fully commit his body in the air or go with Weideman because Brown is a liability at the moment.

This comment contradicts itself

Hands like trampolines - the ball just bounces out of them. Seems to lack upper body strength. He’s not exploiting his reach the way he was last year. This is in contrast to TMac - I think they are much better in tandem

His hands and judgement are shot -  couldn’t catch a cold - and decision making when he has the ball is poor -  needs to iron out game in 2nds

He needs someone to block for him to help him find space, TMAC was good at this. At the moment, he is 1 v 2 or 3. I think Brown/Gawn out has stopped him getting hands on it as he is our only dangerous key forward.
Kicks to the top of the square are not his go either.

Runs on the board lack of a suitable replacement??

An ok game but needs a steak.  Easily moved out the way.

I think he's slowly finding form again. Set-shots have improved the last 2 weeks and at least he looks like taking a contested mark now. Before the bye he wasn't getting near it.

He can get this back I feel. He's still covering the ground well just needs the end product with a few solid grabs. Stick with him :)

Honestly I feel like some demonlanders are watching a different team to the one I’m watching. Our forward line instructions are clearly to prioritise bringing the ball to ground. You will see BB competing with 2,3 or 4 defenders regularly and halving the contest. If he goes up in a pack mark situation with soft hands he will only ever mark or be out marked, that is not our strategy. We play percentages and the number of individual goal kickers over the past couple of weeks tells me that our strategy works.

He virtually never gets a block and without another genuine tall target he will rarely get space to run and jump. I’m not sure what key metric is telling people he is not doing his job, all I can think of is that his conversation on set shot, which is usually elite, is a little bit off lately. He does a power of work to get up the ground and provide an outlet.

I’m honestly unsure what people are seeing that they could attribute to BB not playing his role.

Looks nothing like a fwd that could kick 50-60 goals

he doesn’t even kick straight anymore

need to trade/draft key forwards

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
