Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I am not sure that just because you play in the AFL you have to be a role model. I understand the bit about not bringing the game into disrepute, but being a role model is another level altogether. Even being a model citizen, doesn’t require you to be a role model.

Yeah, I am not to sure about the role model bit but Ginnivan is showing all the traits of being a proper Smarta*se.

Not sure that makes this behaviour ok.

They were publicly objectifying girls on the internet. This isn't private locker room talk. These guys are role models.

Not saying the behaviour is okay by any stretch.

I'm just saying that this behaviour now is very popular amongst the younger generation in both male and female especially with tik tok and other social media platform that provides that gateway for this kind of stuff.

For anyone who want to read further on the actual trend they were participating in this link explains a bit further.

Thanks Dazzle, that is an interesting read, especially for someone like myself who is a social media luddite.

Yeah but that's who he is? I don't think he deserves a character assassination over it and think some of the commentary around the way he conducts himself on field has been pretty unfair to be honest.

In a time where we're screaming for some character and spunk in the game, we have a kid who's doing exactly that and yet some are then quick to pot the kid.

He has arrogance for sure but so did Allan Jakovich, Stephen Milne, Jeff Farmer who all liked to show boat on field.

I personally love it. Watching Shai Bolton the other night was great! I get it irritates people but it's great for the game.

Seems to not really be effecting his on field performance mind you. 22 goals from 11 games as a small forward would put him just behind Bayley Fritsch as one of our higher goal scorers..

Being a role model cant be easy for these kids ,but they have a responsabilty to themselves to behave in the public eye ,that comes with $ they get at such a young age.As a young boy I hung on every word RDB said and every VFL  player. The players of today all have responsabilty to set a good standard of behaviour

Why would one like Shai Bolton's efforts compared to Ginnivan's.

Is it the quieter beginning, the all round talent, the slight detection of mischief compared to arrogance?

Do I go on...

De Gooey on the other hand, appears to be shedding them.

I use the "employable" gauge. As in, how likely is someone to be employed simply on the basis of how they look and present themselves? Body language? Behaviour? I'm not talking tattoos and hair. Just how they carry themselves and "look". De Goey and Ginnivan are what I called "The Unemployables". Otherwise knowm as "The Permanent Performance Plans" and "Chronically Late". They might win you games but dont be surprised if theyre seen slinging tricks at Mens Gallery on a Tuesday night. Tarrant was always going to turn it around.

Kids most definitely look up to footballers whether the footballer wants to be or not they are looked up to and if they publicly display inappropriate behaviour then kids will believe that that behaviour is socially acceptable.

All players entering the system have the talk from the AFL and their club about social media and social responsibility. Yeah boys will be boys and everyone is doing it but that doesn't make it ok.

There is a difference in displaying a bit of arrogance in the way Jakovich and Farmer did and the way in which Ginnivan is going about it . I won't make any comment on Milne, but each to their own I suppose, I reckon I know who would most likely get a smack in the mouth for being a smarta*se.

I don't have a problem with consenting adults interacting. And if the woman said she had no problem or issues about the event its not my nor yours nor Old Dee or DD's business to be telling them how to behave.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
