Blimey. Melksham instead of Bedford

Bedford medi sub again most likely

I love that Ben Brown gets his 150 against his old team.

Will be so nice to watch him kick more goals than their entire side.

Happy with Melksham as the in, Dunstan a bit stiff.

That will teach you to be so confident on the podcast!

Don’t really understand why we’d go with the Melk unless it’s to nurse him to 200

Bedford is still in the team!

I guess they think that forward pressure might not be so necessary v Norf. 🤨  Orv maybe he has been served an ultimatum.

I like it!
When I told Mrs DOF of Melky’s inclusion, which will bring him one game closer to his 200, she responded “that’s great, it matters!  It’s a further  endorsement of the outstanding culture we now have at the Melbourne Football Club”.
I’m not going to argue with my lovely wife on that one!

Typo

A few of us thought this a possibility.

Wonder if Dunstan was fit

PS I see Dunstan is named as an emergency so he must be right to go

You've genuinely got to be [censored] kidding me right?

We pick a bloke off the back of not playing last week being an emergency, over guys like Bedford who had the perfect opportunity to play consisten game time at AFL level. Even if it was Bailey Laurie to get a taste of AFL action.

But no, we select a guy that's going to be 31 this year and we'll past his best at AFL level.

Genuine [censored] selection and it's been obvious that Goody has been trying desperately hard to get his Essendon mate a game this past few weeks.

Opportunity missed.

You dont get a gig unless you play your role.  Milkshake must have done enough to earn his spot.  maybe most like for like for Harmes?

Agree

I think he's there to "improve" the forward delivery and kick 2 odd goals.

Will he? No idea

Maybe

I reckon it’s a certainty bin, given that he has been a ‘poster boy’ for our new indigenous guernsey.

I am surprised you argue with her on anything. Even when you win you lose.

*sigh*, am sucking it up and trusting the footy dept. I can only think they are looking for better inside 50 connection, which he can do, but his lack of defensive pressure drives me spare.

Not your finest work, dazzler.

I reckon Mrs DOF is spot on.

Not a huge fan of the inclusion of Melksham, but Goodwin has been consistent in trying to get people to important milestones. The difficulty I have with the selection of Melksham is that it is not like for like. Harmes is great old fashioned footballer - a whole lot more skilful than many give him credit for, he runs all day, is a very good mark and kick, runs both ways, and can tag/stop if the team needs it.

Melksham is a creative half forward with a wide awareness and a beautiful kick, but hasn't got the grunt of Harmes.

I've had worse.

Melksham should be the absolute last resort of selection. The point of being selected when we have multiple injuries. He's well past it at nearly 31 years of age and not in the club's future plans.

He shouldn't be in the team robbing games off Bedford who actually deserve to be rewarded for his consistency of form in the VFL but also the perfect opportunity to see what he has to offer at AFL level with a string of games while Harmes is off injured.

She thinks so as well!

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
