Seems a lifetime ago that theose message boards were full vastly different discussion!

I watched Footy Classified to see what Lloyd was on about. Yes, great to see that we are the yardstick. But that aside, it just proved to me (again) that the host is a rude and ignorant bully. His treatment of Caroline Wilson was inexcusable.

Yea I struggled with that too. What an absolute money-grubbing self-fellator that bloke is.

I think Eddie everywhere has missed the point of a GF but believes there will be a $50 Million shortfall but the fact is football has to get the families back to watch daytime football which encourages kids to play and watch football.

I know it’s not the intent of this thread but I wasn’t a big fan of Parker’s antics for a couple of reasons.

1. If we are serious about bullying then this behaviour qualifies. Many will say it’s part of the game and game of men etc etc. But I always come back to thinking about the kids that see this and how that behaviour can be used against more vulnerable children at school or on the footy field. I’m sure Dylan can handle the heat but after watching u10s was shocked as to how much the kids mimic afl players from umpire abuse, diving, etc.

2. it’s disrespectful and unprofessional behaviour that has no place on the footy field. I’m sure Horse has told Parker off that this isn’t what footy is about and you must respect your opponent no matter the circumstances.

Completely agreed. I would be really annoyed if one of our players did that.

The outwardly behaviour that was clear for everyone to see at the ground and on TV was not acceptable in my mind. Have a word to your opponent sure, it will stay on the field and that is fine. But Parker just made himself look like a  total tool and publicly embarrassed his opponent, which is so unnecessary. Takes away from the excellent player Parker is, and put the focus on his dumb behaviour instead of his team's great performance.

They've gotten ahead of themselves, gotten too fancy, and now their players apart from Wright have no idea what they're supposed to be doing. They need Tippa back more than they can imagine.

Correct, but not going to happen, unfortunately.

It has been 50 years so shouldnt we be a metrestick instead of a yardstick?

Radio;  Melbourne hasn’t won on Election Day since 1954.
Host;  Melbourne just break records.

Jack Dyer played under eight Prime Ministers.
Burgoyne six, and only two coaches.

I get where you are coming from and if there was no televised coverage where thousands of impressionable kids were watching, then i wouldn't have too much of an issue with either.

Fact is, it is televised and as such AFL players (whether they like it or not) have a responsibility back to the community to behave in a way that promotes good sportsmanship and acceptable behavior.  Most workplaces would also have a code of conduct, which promotes acceptable behavior and treating colleagues with respect. If Luke Parker doesn't like that, then he can get out of the kitchen.

In the space of a decade or so we've gone from Media saying we play bruise-free footy to being thugs to now being this relentless hard but fair team. What A journey.

Only if we do the hard metres, put kilometres into our legs, have a gram of luck, centimetre closer to a win, watch the kilojoules and go the whole 8.23 metres.

They both do it. This is what happens with the multiverse. Sometimes it is two bad realities merging.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
