Close win by freo: erodes their percentage and dashes cats fans hopes. Tick!

It is always a very pleasing thing to see the Cats beaten at home. Seeing I am not allowed to type "[censored]", I will translate immature felines that are weak, feeble, not fully grown, soft and cuddly".

Very, very well played Freo.

Freo! Great win!

no Young, Fyfe, Darcy, Taberner

Freo are a legitimate contender. Superb young list and statistically the best defensive team in the league so far this year.

Gee that's a great win by Freo. They are something. Ha the cats fans will be mad

Are mad

Maggots will be disappointed ( unless Sportsbet offers them under 1 goal.

Glorious to see the Cats lose. I think there’s enough evidence to say they’re not a top 4 side this year. Good, if we aren’t to win it this year then I don’t want them anywhere near it.

Freo are the real deal though and quite a likable squad of blokes. Could be a nil all draw when we play them in a few weeks.

Freo on top of the ladder. That said, I will never agree with the idea that a team can be ahead on the ladder if another team with equal points has a game in hand.

We're ahead on percentage still.

Port v Saints is a terrible game - lots of ground ball between half back lines with no result.

North taking it up to the Blues. Pleases, please, please North; beat those brown paper bag boys.

Just home from the game in time to watch the dross that's being served up in Cairns. Max King could be the first person to kick 1000 behinds.

If the AFL want to showcase our game in the @rse ends of the nation then they could at least fixture games in the dry season.

Darcy gems:

kicks it to Steele - ooh he’s a good player

to Boak - such a good player

you can tell he is a student of the game

Sorry late to the show. Why is this game being played in a sauna rather than the ice rink?

I want Port to win this. Knock some of the wind out of the Saints sails before we play them

The only team that's not liked by their own coach...I wonder.

And put some ladder distance between us and them too

Mid-table mediocrity destined for the Cats.

Mordor holds no fears for man east or west. The chosen one broke the curse late on the year 2021 and now the forces of light have reigned free.

What an absolute scrap!

Well done Port.

4 goals 18 behinds speaks for itself.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
