Out: Dunstan, Smith

In: Viney, Lever

Injuries and covid aside it's an easy decision this week.

Rain predicted for Friday and Saturday

Yep, Dunstan didn't get 30 possies so he's out for Viney

Lever ....... must come in

Yep. I thought Dunstan was fine, even good, but that’s the pecking order.

I thought Smith was okay too other than that one Very Joel Smith moment that we won’t talk about any further.

Dunstan was very good but will go straight out

Well we pride ourselves on our contested game, which wet weather induces. At least it won’t hurt our accuracy.

Would like not to see Smith play ever again if he dishes that up. Honestly, as bad as Frost as far as giving away goals and shots on goal.

A few down tonight. Rivers won't want to play like that again with Hibberd and Salem not too far off.

Weid keeps his spot and so does Brown. They made the most of what was horrendous ball coming in.

Dunstan and Smith out for you know who.

Amazing we can win a game like that against that oppo having been so off offensively

The MC should have an easier task this week:  Vines for Dunstan;  Lever for Smith.

Correct.
Smith was not bad but he’s not and never will be Lever.
Open to making Dunstan the sub. Bedford didn’t play today so they probably want to get game time into him.

Harsh on Dunstan as it can take time to establish oneself in the team. However, unless he gets high 20s or more in possessions, he is going out for Viney.

Same deal with Smith. He has improved out of sight this year, but Lever's ability to organize our back six and play the intercept role makes him indispensible.

It is very harsh but when you are premiers it can be harsh if you’re on the edge of the 22.

I'd keep weid. But next week I'd like to see him lead & clunk a few.

Lever must come back and of course viney.

With Casey having played today, I feel Bedford will get a run in the VFL next week and Dunstan will be our sub.

I'd like to get 'Bill' Laurie in as sub if we are looking to ease some young talent in. Thought he had some very good moments today.

As per most of the above.

What suit darling? the cream, the white, the off white, the ivory or the beige?

....er yes!

Harmes clearly wasn’t right in the second half.

Maysy is nursing something. I get the feeling if Petty and Lever get settled they’ll very much consider giving May a week off.

A couple to watch.

If Harmes needs a week off it could be Gus back to a wing, Lever down back. Or Dunstan stays in and Sparrow does more wing and less on ball.

Dunstan should stay, controversial call but is he worse than Viney? Could he be better? I don’t know. Either way I think there’s a place for him in the team.

TMac looked slow for Casey today. Unless the Weid just doesn’t come on over the next few weeks, or injuries, I can’t see TMac back for a while.

Thought Dunstan was good tonight. Viney in, he's playing some of his best football right now.

Lever for Smith.

IN: Kicking accuracy please, I wasn't concerned at any stage of the game, but those kicks for goal gave me the [censored].

absolutely no way a player should make their 'debut' as a sub

hate that when other clubs do it and wouldn't want to see us do it either

Will be interesting to see if Lever comes back. He was on half a leg against the Giants.

May got a huge corkie but played on. He is a warrior.

This.

Mentioned in another thread, could be nothing in it but Harmes was in a tracksuit before the end of the game. One to keep an eye on this week perhaps.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
