Demonland has made the difficult decision to not to permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Darn it-I thought I fixed the "Harem" spelling error! Oh well-good for a laugh. :)

Hard to imagine BB not coming straight back in. Only question might be a lack of match fitness. Not sure who makes way, but personally I'd give Weid another chance or two, see how he works alongside Brown.

TMac has been playing "almost" football for quite a while now, and the longer it goes on, the less likelihood that he'll return to being the dominant forward he was for a while there.

I can't recall a better defensive game for us than Steven May's. He was superb.

Jack Viney IMO played one of his best games for the club and certainly one of his best non finals games. His intensity and defence at stoppage was vital in the second.

That 3rd quarter was a joy to watch. So much so I watched the replay this week for the first time this year. I'll never tire of listening to commentators fawn all over us.

Massive game coming up against Richmond.

Pull your head in. You have made your point. These are the footy times of our lives. If you want to ram half a doz posts down everyones throat, in a post match thread,  with diatribe about the club, well thats not only draining but annoying. Once and you made your point.

Pull your head in Wizard, and work out what is important for the club.

you will get more than half a dozen posts rammed down your throat every time our supporter base doesn’t turn up to watch this great team!

Agree 100%. I thought that was pretty much his best game for the club: he seems to be playing a slightly higher role, where he pinpoints kicks into the F50, rather than just crumbing deep. His vision and kicking precision are excellent and he’s really able to use his reading of the game to great effect.

In general, it seems as though our younger brigade are really beginning to shine through, but what an apprenticeship they are being given!

Interesting....

Melbourne had a remarkable 10 individual goal scorers in the third term - becoming just the third club to achieve the feat in the past 20 years.

Media myth I reckon. What other team has kicked 10 goals in a quarter with 10 individual goal kickers? 3 in 20 years sounds bs. Extraordinary achievement

Yes there were a few errors - but she made some good calls too - including Langdon's blatant push. Rather a courageous call. Trac would be a bit cheesed off at Langers rather than the ump for that one after he saw the replay. To be honest, I was a bit more concerned with the 50 metre interpretations of the other ump  rather than her performance which I thought was Ok overall despite some errors. On most occasions she  gave very very clear explanations and instructions. Thats my take on it.

Have to disagree there. He barely touched him. I definitely did not see that as a push

Gawn and May were both outstanding when the game was a genuine contest. Spargo played a great game too. The crowd was terribly disappointing.  This is a fantastic team who deserve to be playing in front of 40,000 plus every week.  I certainly enjoyed myself there tonight.  Was a great night for footy.

Undoubtably a great night for footy and especially for the Dees.

i met quite a few Dees supporters up here while helping prepare for our Easter festival. It is great supporters are now prouder to wear their colours and have stickers on their cars. This team has bought us respect and deserve to be followed with attendance, butmore importantly those who attend need to cheer for those of us who have other commitments and just can't get to the ground.

Ill get there whenever I can to thank the players and the club but not living in Melbourne does provide some barriers. Expect me to be even louder than for the last 30 years ( and I am renown for clearing people from sitting in front of me. I apologise but my vigorous supporting has been grown through 40 years of desperate bellowing.

i am particularly inspired by a number of the younger supporters who lead the M xxx. Exxx. Lxxx (etc) chant and encourage everyone to join in. It's great to be cheering excellent play and positive outcomes than cheering great endeavour and failure.

GO DEES

Don't know if that always s or xisted as always lingered after the game to undertake a post Mortem. It often took some time to find something positive in the defeat, but it has lately become more enjoyable. So many incidents that just need to be relived to enhance the joy.

Okay, then I guess my only option is to stick you on ignore, this will be my first. I really can’t see how you think blasting a fan forum with your derision for fans who can’t make it to the game is in any way helpful.

You sound like the school bully who thinks he can beat and intimidate the class into liking his favourite tv show. Given that we are on a demons fan forum, you can be pretty well assured that most people here are going to every game they can get to.

How about just letting people support the club in whatever way works for them rather than spraying your anger here whenever you feel the crowd numbers haven’t met your expectations?

Don't get me wrong the wait seemed a little annoyance after another win. I was just asking the question if this was the norm. It is the first time in at least 5 years that I have driven to a game. I can take this winning stuff, haven't had to resort to the single malt for a long time.

Well you are being consistent if you apply it to all sorts of tackles. I thought you were singling out run-down tackles and that you'd have to give a run down tackle special status compared to other tackles.  And if you did, then you are introducing yet another grey area into the umpiring in deciding whether a tackle is rundown or merely a bit of a separation before the tackle.

My memory isn't great, but I don't recall there has ever been a time when prior opportunity has been so rigourously applied as you suggest in the 80's. Seems to me you were always allowed to dispose of it, though maybe 360 degree rotations were penalised more.

you're right.....your memory wasn't great

they used to be red hot if you had prior......i even remember a time when they said you had ? seconds to dispose, where ? was something like 2-3 seconds iirc.

Yes - apparently Cotchin deliberately kicking Walker was of similar value to May's "trip"!  (Maybe something to do with wanting Cotchin to be able to play ANZAC EVE).

    PODCAST: Jason Taylor Interview

I'm interviewing the Melbourne Football Club Recruitment Manager Jason Taylor early next week on the Demonland Podcast. I'll be asking him about moving up the draft order, our new recruits (both Draftees and Trades), Daniel Curtin, our recent recruits who have yet to play a senior game, who he thinks will be the next Judd McVee and more. If you have any further questions let me know below and I'll see if I can squeeze them in. I will release the podcast either Monday or Tuesday.

TOO LITTLE TOO LATE by Meggs

It was a hot afternoon at IKON where the ferocious Cats came to play, had read the manual on how to beat us and the Demons were unable to match them for the first three quarters.     With physical pressure, they took the game on with relative ease and though our resistance seemed better than the previous two weeks it was still not good enough.     Within the opening minute, Kate Hore marks within range, but her shot was a miss-kick, like a fat iron, and it kinda set a flat tone f

    TURNAROUND by Meggs

Following successive comprehensive defeats by fellow Top Four heavyweights the Demons play down a division this Sunday against the highly promising Cats.     Strangely, no games against the Cats for five seasons and now we play them twice in one season.     With the blueprint on how to defeat the Dees available on the dark web the real question is, will we crumble again under the finals pressure cooker or will we rediscover our #DemonSpirit and execute a turnaround?   Mak

THE SECRET IS OUT by Meggs

We were expecting that after last week’s comprehensive defeat by Brisbane, our coach Mick Stinear would have his charges coming out breathing finals fire. Instead, it was North who had the aggression, the numbers, who blocked our scoring avenues and rendered us impotent, unable to match the Kangas during any phase of the match.   Darren Crocker, the North coach, later highlighted that how to beat Melbourne is no secret following recent losses to Adelaide and Brisbane and now North.

CATCH EM ON THE HOP by Meggs

A sunny Sunday afternoon feast of finals footy awaits at our team’s favourite home ground, Ikon Park.  Great vibes at Princes Park where we remain undefeated from 7 matches and counting. Expect the Dees to come out strongly, sparring and outmuscling the Kangaroos in the middle.  With Paxy back firing and our gun forwards mesmerising, hopefully we catch ‘em on the hop. Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane have filled ten of the twelve Grand Final spots in AFLW history, and this dominance

    COLD AGGRESSION by Meggs

“Cold aggression”, Lions star full forward Dakota Davidson called it. Brisbane outmuscled, outran, and ultimately overwhelmed us. They certainly came to play and exorcised their 2022 grand final grudge defeating the Demons in the rematch by 25 points. Stats count and Brisbane won the key ones. Inside 50s 42 to 24, centre clearances 8 to 6, uncontested possessions 133 to 75 and 51 marks to 27. The Lions’ sustained pressure is the kind we usually bring for other teams.   There

    HOME PRIZE by Meggs

Big stakes this weekend. For the winner, will it be a Dees minor premiership and potential home grand final or will it be a Lion‘s Top Four finish and a double chance?    Huge interest circulates in the how the ladder unfolds over this weekend’s final round of the 2023 home and away season with some 10 teams vying for 8 places.     It’s AFLW Pride Week, a celebration of people from all walks of life coming together, being respected, loved and accepted. WICKED WIND by Meggs

Hang out to your hats. The strong blustery conditions made it extremely difficult for either team to execute footy skills but nonetheless an entertaining match ensured for those brave enough to venture down to Casey Fields on Saturday. Impressive Irish player Aine Tighe was a late withdrawal for Freo. Maddie Gay was also a late change, and she was replaced with 19 year-old Georgia Gall, the 6-foot ex Melbourne Stars BBL cricketer who has been impressing the coaches in scrimmage games.
